Vick Resting, Isn't 'In La-La Land'

Eagles coach Andy Reid told reporters Wednesday that quarterback Michael Vick is resting at home and that his concussion headaches have subsided. Reid refused to declare Vick out for Sunday's visit with the Redskins, although Vick playing seems pretty much impossible, given the significance of the blow Vick received in last Sunday's loss to the Redskins.
Wide receiver Jeremy Maclin said he spoke with Vick Tuesday. Maclin said they didn't discuss football, just personal matters. He said Vick was able to carry on a normal conversation, wasn't "in la-la land."
Rookie Nick Foles will take the starter's reps today and probably all week. Reid said Foles will "handle it like he's going."
Reid said he does not anticipate Vick will miss the rest of the season, but until Vick undergoes testing, it's impossible to say.
Reid said his message to the team was to "just go play," have fun, don't succumb to pressure.
Maclin, who suffered a low-back strain against the Cowboys, said he will play this week. Right guard Danny Watkins is back; Reid said Dennis Kelly will alternate with tackles Demetress Bell and King Dunlap this week in practice.
Slot receiver Jason Avant (hamstring) is out for the Redskins game, as is RB Chris Polk (toe).
New guard Jake Scott said he wasn't sure how long it might take him to get up to game speed, but he said he intends to be ready to play this weekend if he's needed.

Reid reiterated what everyone knew during the draft process - that the Eagles certainly kicked the tires on Robert Griffin III, the quarterback the Redskins ultimately traded up to draft second overall, who looks like a budding superstar. But -- though Reid didn't say this Wednesday -- the Eagles didn't have the sixth overall pick in the 2012 draft to trade, as the Redskins did, along with two other firsts and a second, to make the deal with the rebuilding Rams.
In a conference call with Philadelphia reporters, Griffin recalled that time.
“I met with the Eagles and coach Reid told me they were very interested in me. You never know what can happen, but I really enjoyed my meeting with them. Obviously, things didn’t work out," said Griffin, who of course said he is very happy in Washington.
Griffin also got to know Nick Foles at the combine.
“I was able to be in the same group, be around him at the combine. He’s a really cool guy. All the rookie quarterbacks I’ve had a chance to meet have all been good, down-to-earth people who seem like they’re pretty good leaders," Griffin said. "I don’t know what it is about this class, but every now and then you get a group of guys in the same claas – quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers, whatever it is – and things just seem to click with those guys. We’re definitely, as a group, just clicking right now.”

vick I need you to play, and win!!! this is the only way. its not to late to make playoffs, so win out you save yours and Andy's job!!!
just believe Walkdogbl32
I've gotten to where I expect the team to self destruct at times during the game, if they don't and play pretty decent then it's a plus. I'll be surprized if they make the playoffs (hey,I like surprizes) and even more so if they win a game or two! Just sayin'... DJ
Walkdogbl32 - a better name for you, a self-proclaimed vik fan, is Smashthedogsskull_132 COskier
Am shocked at seeing them ranked as high as 26 in power rankings. I do think they are barely better than the chiefs and jaguars. So imagine if they can get on a run with Foles in place of Vick that would say something about having the right personnel and scheme sort of like what Luck is doing with the same colts team as last years'. And enough with the Hoying comparisons from a generation ago. damrvrhunter
Foles will be a good QB for a long time...as RG111 said these rookie QB's are very good, RG111, Andrew Luck, Russell Wilson, Tannehill, and Nick Foles are new young guns that will be playing QB for many years. jim35
Reid would have been so infatuated with RGIII, he probably would have traded 4 future first rounders for him. But at the time, he still had a race car named Vick. Reid will never learn. Kioto
Vick, I need you to play, and lose!!! This is the only way we will be finally rid of you and the fat man. It's too late to make the playoffs, so just lose out. You will be gone and so will Andy. Signed, the anti-Walkdogbl32. ghost of callison
Every fan out there that think a mobile QB behind a weak O line is better a thinking QB that is tall and knows to get the ball out in 2.5 seconds is insane. Vicks running ability has really helped us out this year...You think Manning had GREAT lines up there in INDY...NO....they were OK...but when your QB is great at presnap and reading defenses they only have to block for 2.5 seconds. RealizticFan- Vick's thought process...Watch receiver make an out-move then when he makes the 2nd in-move, I throw it...but first check for possible interception or running lane. Manning, Brady's thought process-Look off the other way and then quickly come back this way and throw it to where that receiver better be.

Les, they lost to the Cowboys on Sunday. Your getting old my man. Might be time to move on. pritter
Reid will not rule out Vick. Reid would send him out of the field if he could. Reid can't stand the thought of going it without Vick. There really is something very wrong with Reid's QB thinking. Taser- No. Actually this is one of the FEW (very few) smart things Reid, or ANY coach can do. Get the opposition thinking there's the possibility of an injured player playing and force them to prepare for BOTH players. That way, they can only dedicate half of their preparation time to prepare for Foles which cuts down on their effectiveness come game time. However, these are our Eagles we're talking about so it may not matter. essell
Vick may not be in LaLa Land, but according to this article Reid is! I can't wait to next season.... stardog
HAH! I agree with you @pritter! Les must have taken one to the noggin like Vick! Uh....why is Watkins back? Who needs him? He's nothing more than a human turnstile anyway. I feel for my fellow Mike Vick Experience fans out there. Mike Vick is cooked. I would say stick a fork in him but under "the right scheme" he could bounce back as a back up. His days of being a starting QB may be over. Blame Fat Andy and Mourn-his-weight for that. Their short sighted play calling has reduced the Human Video Game Highlight into a broken mess. Leaving Shady to pick up a few yards here and there is doing the BEST RB in the league a disservice. UGH! Looks like I picked the wrong season to stop sniffing glue.......... Panthro2011
