Cliff Lee dodged rain drops to throw a bullpen session. Domonic Brown swung a bat for the first time in a week.

Although the Phillies are unlikely to play any meaningful games in the season's final two months, their two All-Stars are close to returning.

Brown, on the 7-day DL after experiencing concussion symptoms, will take batting practice with the Phillies on Friday; he could go on a short rehab assignment this weekend. Lee could return before the end of the weekend.

"I think the plan is to pitch Sunday, it kind of depends how I feel tomorrow after this bullpen, but I think that’s the plan," Lee said. "That’s what I’ve been told."

Lee hasn't pitched since July 21 - he was scratched from his scheduled start last Saturday with stiffness in his neck. The Phils could have placed him on the DL and brought him back as soon as Tuesday, but apparently that won't be necessary so long as he feels fine on Friday, a day after his 'pen session.

"I feel fresh, I feel good," Lee said. "That's a good sign."

Brown hasn't played since July 23, when he dived for a ball in St. Louis and reported concussion symptoms afterward. But he's been symptom-free for four days and passed an ImPACT concussion test on Tuesday.

"I feel great - I feel normal," Brown said after playing catch with Delmon Young Thursday afternoon.

Brown didn't rule a return as soon as Tuesday, when the Phils begin a three-game series against the Chicago Cubs.
