Temple basketball target Amile Jefferson wants to visit North Carolina State next week.

The Friends’ Central School 6-foot-8 rising senior forward hopes to be in Raleigh, N.C. on Tuesday and Wednesday for the Wolfpack elite camp.

"We are trying to come down there for the elite camp, so that's definitely a possibility," Jefferson told TheWolfpacker.com Thursday at the NBPA Top 100 Camp at the University of Virginia. "If not, then we'll have to see when I get some free time. We will definitely try to get down there."

Jefferson, the nation’s 26th-ranked prospect in the Class of 2012 by ESPN.com, has scholarship offers from Temple, N.C. State, La Salle, Villanova, Stanford, Syracuse, West Virginia, Maryland, Ohio State, Penn State and Wake Forest, among others.

“I don’t have a top five,” he told The Inquirer. “I’m pretty much wide open.”

However, Jefferson was impressed by the recruiting message N.C. State’s new coach Mark Gottfried gave him over the phone.

"He's a great coach and I hear a lot of people talk and say good things about him," Jefferson told The Wolfpacker.com. "I just read a couple of articles on him this past week that said a lot of good things that I liked. When I talked to him, he was real down to earth."

After talking to Gottfried, Jefferson wants to visit the campus, meet the players and see what type of system N.C. State runs.

Fran Dunphy has a lot more experience, wins, championships, and NCAA appearances. NCSU has defensive problems and from what I have read, Mark Gottfried has questionable defensive coaching credentials. Just google his name and "bad defensive coach" is the first result.

Temple can target anyone they want but Jefferson is Villanova's recruit at this point. Not a chance in hell he goes to play at the likes of Temple Community College. Dunphy should stick to chasing Philadelphia Public League kids.

Irish coach, what's with the Temple bashing?....TU is the 6th most successful program in NCAA basketball history & takes 2nd to no one in this area...Temple is preseason top 20 again this year so your smug comments are pathetic...as a nova supporter, I'm sure your concerned about 2 consecutive late season nova collapses where a talented team played miserable down the stretch again.

Temple bashing is not surprising especially from a Villanova backer. They are not going to be in the Big East for football and probably will be crushed when they play football in September, so it's nothing new. It is pretty sad though.

Irishmope I can see where VU has an edge in recruiting kids. Free use of cell phones from athletic departrment, in-house weed holder in Reggie Redding and for those Main Liners who are inclined to go "that way" (as most of them are) Dante Cunningham on call (with those free cell phones).Poor SAT scores? No prob. VU will use its own "score inflation technique" to cure that minor issue too.VU,as always, the wannabe great pretenders. Fooling nobody in this area.
