Soul improve to 4-1 with 56-33 win over Kiss

The Soul collected their second victory in a row, 56-33, over the Los Angeles Kiss on Monday night at the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif.

The Soul (4-1) extended their winning streak to three games thanks to five defensive stops from its defense, including two interceptions from Dwayne Hollis and Tracy Belton.

Hollis and Belton helped the Soul defense hold its opponent to 50 points or less for the fourth time this season. The Soul has won all four of those games.

With the defense making life tough for the Kiss (2-3), the Soul offense capitalized on the extra opportunities by scoring on each of its first five possessions, which gave the team a 35-21 lead at the half.

Outside of a fumble during the third quarter, the only thing that stopped the Soul offense was the game clock.

"Being able to capitalize on turnovers helps to set the tone of the game and I think we definitely accomplished that," said Soul head coach Clint Dolezel after the game. "We made some mistakes in the first half, but came out much stronger in the second and were able to finish the game."

Leading the way for the Soul offensively was quarterback Dan Raudabaugh, who completed 18 of 26 pass attempts for 250 yards and six touchdowns. More importantly, he did not throw any interceptions.

Raudabaugh's favorite target on this night was receiver Darius Reynolds. Reynolds caught 10 passes for 134 yards and three scores. Shaun Kauleinamoku matched Reynolds' three touchdowns to go along with 97 yards on six receptions.

Kiss quarterback Nathan Stanley had a rough go of things mostly because of the Soul defense. He ended the night 18-of-41 for 191 yards and four touchdowns to go along with his pair of interceptions.

Former Soul wide receiver Donovan Morgan led the Kiss in receiving with seven catches for 106 yards and three touchdowns.

The Soul return home next week to host the winless Tampa Bay Storm (0-4) on Monday, May 9 at 8 p.m.
