Sixers agree to terms with Royal Ivey

POSTED: Tuesday, July 17, 2012, 3:38 PM

Guard Royal Ivey has returned to the Sixers, coach Doug Collins told reporters today.

The 6-4 Ivey played in 71 games with the Sixers in 2008-09, averaging 3 points per game in 12.1 minutes as a reserve. Ivey appeared in 26 games the following season before he was traded to Milwaukee in the deal that brought Jodie Meeks.

He spent the last two seasons with Oklahoma City, playing in 25 games two years ago and 34 games last season. He also appeared in five playoff games as the Thunder reached the NBA Finals this past season.

In eight seasons out of the University of Texas, Ivey, 31, has averaged 3.4 points, 1.1 rebounds and 1.1 assists.

Collins also announced that Kwame Brown passed his physical. The 30-year-old center will be joining his seventh NBA team since being selected with the No. 1 overall pick out of high school in 2001.

A really good assessment of the thought process in DC's head, and what his hope for Ivey's season could play out as a veteran deep on the bench...It appears DC wants to win 75-72...I would say "it's always lonely at the top", but I'm sorry to say your win total is heavy about 15 games.

A good veteran guard combo guard who can defend. If you look at the roster, we needed a back-up point guard and a guard that can defend. Good signing. I am more optimistic than bearsfriend, but I still think 54 wins is way too high. I'll go with 43.

Another guard? Because we have Holiday and Turner with Nick Young to back-up at shooting guard? And if one gets injured then the other two can just play all 48 minutes? Seriously people, why do you get upset when the Sixers sign back-up players to fill out their roster?

There are no players that the 76ers can sign or trade for that makes this team a contender next season. They need to develop their young players so they have value in a trade. If they have players that don't fit, they'll be ok if these young players develop value. These short term players make the 76ers better but they are really just a bridge until they completely rebuild. Short term deals that have trade value. No long term money tied up. If Drue and Evan can't play together, trade one. This is the time to push these young guys and see who has what. Then they can assess where they are at with the team and start making changes. If things work out, we're 3 years from being a contender with a 4 year window. Think long term. It's our only chance.

Woo I love this move. He was hot on the market so I hope they gave him the Kwame Special of 2 years, 6 million.

    Anyone see this?

The Andre Iguodala dream can just about die. The source said the Wolves have done a ton of homework on him, and the feedback didn't all register positively. Because of that, they are reluctant to give up assets and pay him $30 million over the next two years. His contract has a player option for 2013-14, which he is expected to opt into.

Even Kahn doesn't want him...we are screwed.

The Eagles should take this approach and re-sign Todd Pinkston.

Wow this is huge Adam....how about Roy Hinson? Shucks that we missed out on Jerry Stackhouse...
Why don't we go with the rest of the NBA and sign some 40 year old cadavers...it just shows the lack of development of young players at the college level who come in the NBA way too early and the fact that their "games" all go stagnant as they collect their $$$$ the first few years...
Check out the 2010 NBA draft---nobody of note in the whole first round...sad,sad,...Fans are getting a watered down product....
