Jon Runyan's career isn't over yet.

The veteran has signed with the San Diego Chargers, per Adam Schefter of ESPN.

On the same day that the Eagles announced a four-year extension for right tackle Winston Justice, Runyan found a place to resume his career.

The Chargers needed offensive line help after placing tackle Jeromey Clary on injured reserve with an ankle injury.

Runyan worked out for the Eagles and two other teams earlier this season. As recently as last week, he was co-hosting a show on WIP.

Runyan is recovering from a knee injury and turns 36 this weekend.

Meanwhile, Birds' Eye View and Eagletarian have details on Justice's new deal.

Earlier today, we blogged Man Up on the defense.

And yesterday, we did the offense, coincidentally focusing on Justice's run-blocking performance against the Bears.

Good for Big Jon. The Eagles obviously had no interest and while the O-line play has been inconsistent, tackle isn't really a need right now, thats why DavezMental

I have no idea if he can still play, but at least he'll probably make it to the playoffs this year. If he signed with the Eagles that would be far from guaranteed.

I'm not sure what the point is. So Runyan comes back for 5 or 6 games, then what? He'd be better off hanging them up and running for political office, as has been rumored. Runyan coming back for that makes even less sense than the Eagles bringing back Trotter.

Sheil, you've been unfair in your assessment of Justice until only recently. You owe him a public apology. He came into the NFL early before his body was strong enough to play at this level. He's worked his tail off, kept his mouth shut, and has become one of the most solid character guys on the team. He didn't deserve all the ridicule so many people, including you, put on him for ONE game.

soulman, take you finger off the mouse, dude! Once again, the Eagles sign a guy for cheap and long. Just like Sheldon. But, no matter how much Reid has praised Brown up and down this week for playing hurt, Brown won't see another dime more from Banner. Just Reid's version of saying, "Thanks, sucker!"

Maybe you are being a little sensitive, Mrs. Justi ... I mean, soulman386. I don't remember Sheil ever burying Justice and I follow him pretty closely. But, if you want to find undeserved ridicule, blogs are a good place to start. In fact, if you want, I could say something about your mom.
Comment removed.

Geez, soul, stop hitting refresh to see if your message posted yet!!! And Mike, why do the Eagles owe Sheldon more money? He got a big deal for someone that had only been playing for one year. And he has outplayed that deal... BUT he still have like 5 years left on that deal. You can't renig on such a long term deal with so many years left. That being said, with the way he has handled himself this year, they just much make good in the offseason this year.

@SteveS11 Runyan comes back for to play for a contender. That's the point. He wants to play and he wants to win.

P.S. Can't philly.com put in a filter to eliminate duplicate posts? Other websites have it.

mike l - So how was Brown being suckered? If he didn't want the deal, then he shouldn't have signed it.
