The Eagles have brought Dick Jauron on board to coach their secondary, a league source tells Jason La Canfora of NFL.com.

Brian Stewart coached the DBs last year but left after one season in Philadelphia to become the defensive coordinator at the University of Houston.

Jauron, 59, spent the last four seasons in Buffalo. He was fired as head coach of the Bills last year after the team began the season 3-6. Buffalo went 7-9 under Jauron in each of the previous three seasons.

He was the head coach of the Bears from 1999-2003 and served as interim head coach of the Lions in 2005. Jauron's overall record as a head coach is 60-82.

Jauron and Andy Reid worked together in Green Bay from 1992-94. He also served as the Jaguars' defensive coordinator from 1995-98 and the Lions' defensive coordinator in 2004-05.

Reid's staff has undergone a bit of a shake-up over the last two seasons.

Before last season, assistant DBs coach Otis Smith was let go, and Sean McDermott of course took over for Jim Johnson as defensive coordinator.

And last month, the team announced that Bobby April would replace Ted Daisher as special teams coach.

Goals for Dick this off season: 1. Remove the "Deion Sanders Guide to Tackling" tapes from Asante. 2. Get Sheldon to stop biting on pump fakes 3. Help Andy and Howie Mandel find someone who can play next to Mikell. Good luck Dick

Nice move. Jauron has a wealth of experience to bring to the table. Who cares what his record was as a head coach. They're not bringing him in to be a head coach.

Can't hurt any. Secondary was definatly a weakness last year. Come to think of it the entire defense was a weakness. That and #5. Some guys might not cut it as a head coach but make a great coordinator or position coach. Jauron was thought of highly enough to have 2 teams make him their HC so I would welcome his input and experience to the staff. Now all they need is to name Kolb the starting QB.

The message is pretty clear to Sean McDermott, no more we had injuries excuses. In case it didn't dawn on him, his replacement has been hired.

The mediocrity continues...and lemming Eagles fans will continue to pour money into Jeff Laurie's wallet. And anyone thinking Jaron is McDermott's possible replacement is a complete idiot...they just hired Sean's brother to be the no. 3 person behind Banner in the Org...no way in hell they rock that boat.

Everything in Eagle land is changing except the result. So let's ook at what hasn't changed. Banner for starters. Andy and Donovan for leftovers. I know...this record's broken

"The mediocrity continues...and lemming Eagles fans will continue to pour money into Jeff Laurie's wallet." First of all, the "lemmings" probably know that Jeffrey Lurie is the owner of the team...not sure who Jeff "Laurie" is. More importantly, in the last decade, the Eagles are 103-56-1 which is the 3rd most wins behind the Pats and Colts for the entire decade. So having the 3rd most wins is "mediocre"? Interesting. During the decade, the Eagles won their division 5 times. That's "mediocre"? Interesting. They were also in 5 NFC championship games. That's "mediocre"? Interesting. They just went 11-5 this season. Only 4 teams in the NFL had more wins than the Eagles this year. That's "mediocre"? Interesting. I'm very confused because I thought "mediocre" meant average or in the middle of the pack. Finally, Jauron was hired to be the secondary coach, not run the freaking team. Name any secondary coach in the NFL that is more qualified than Jauron. Can you even name any other secondary coach in the league at all? Perhaps you thought they should have hired Bill Parcells or Bill Cowher or Tony Dungy to coach the secondary. Would those have been the only acceptable hires for our secondary coach? Some of you people need to get over yourselves already with the whining and complaining and moaning all the time. I'm sure the biggest complainers are the biggest bums on the planet and they act like anything less than perfection is acceptable when they are probably the furthest from perfection you can get.
