Following today's exhibition game at Citizens Bank Park, the Phillies made several roster moves:
Pitchers Joe Blanton (left oblique strain), Brad Lidge (right elbow surgery) and J.C. Romero (left elbow surgery) were all placed on the 15-day disabled list, as expected. The moves were retroactive to March 26 and all are eligible to return April 10, although that does not seem likely.
Blanton will be on the disabled list for the first time in his career.
Lidge will start the season on the DL for the second time in three years. Romero was on the disabled list last season for more than 2 months with a forearm injury and missed the start of the season because of a 50-game suspension for testing positive for a banned substance.
Also, catcher Paul Hoover, infielders Cody Ransom and Wilson Valdez and outfielder Dewayne Wise were reassigned to Triple A Lehigh Valley.
The Phillies will conduct a workout Sunday at Nationals Park in advance of Monday's season opener.
