Phillies fall to Rays, 3-1, in 10 innings

PORT CHARLOTTE, FlA. – The Tampa Bay Rays beat the Phillies 3-1 on a two-out 10th inning walk-off homer by Stephen Vogt off minor-league pitcher Jay Johnson in Port Charlotte.'

The highlight of the day for the Phillies was five shutout innings by starter John Lannan, who surrendered only two hits and struck out four.

The only Philadelphia run came in the second inning when right fielder Domonic Brown single to lead off the inning and then scored on a single by catcher Carlos Ruiz.

Philadelphia relievers Antonio Bastardo, Justin De Fratus and Jeremy Horst combined to limit the Rays to one run over four innings. The Rays tied the game in the seventh on a Shelly Duncan homer off De Fratus.

The Phillies had only four hits, all singles. They didn't have a hit after second baseman Kevin Frandsen led off the sixth with a single.

The Phillies struck out 12 times, The bottom three hitters, John Mayberry, Jr. Josh Fields and Freddy Galvis were a combined 0-for-9 with six strikeouts.
