The Eagles added depth to their wide receiving corps on Friday by acquiring former second-round pick Arrelious Benn from the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Benn, a 2010 second-round pick, comes to Philadelphia along with a 2013 seventh-round pick in exchange for the Eagles’ sixth-round pick and a conditional 2014 pick. That means the Eagles got Benn, 24, by moving down a few picks on the third day of the draft.

Benn’s been inconsistent in his three seasons with Tampa Bay, which is why he was on the trading block. He’s also battled knee injuries, including one that ended his 2012 campaign.

In three seasons, Benn has totaled 59 catches for 862 yards and five touchdowns. He adds experience as a kick returner, too.

  • At 6-foot-2 and 220 pounds, Benn is a big-bodied receiver. He joins DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin, Jason Avant, Riley Cooper, and Damaris Johnson as the Eagles’ top wide receivers. The Eagles added tight end/fullback James Casey this week, who will also be used in the passing game.
