Jeff McLane's 2017 NFL mock draft

The 2017 NFL draft starts Thursday night in Philadelphia.

Our four Eagles reporters – Zach Berman, Les Bowen, Paul Domowitch and Jeff McLane – predict which players will be chosen by which teams in the first round of the NFL draft Thursday night in Philadelphia. Below is Jeff McLane's prediction, and the links to the others are here: Zach Berman, Les Bowen, Paul Domowitch.

1. Cleveland Browns: Myles Garrett, DE, Texas A&M

He's the best prospect in the class and plays a value position. Even the Browns can't mess this pick up.

2. San Francisco 49ers: Solomon Thomas, DE, Stanford

As much as San Francisco needs a quarterback, there just aren't any worth taking this early. This pick could also be up for sale.

3. Chicago Bears: Malik Hooker, S, Ohio State

Chicago could go with the other top-10 safety in Jamal Adams, but Hooker is a rare athlete and the Bears need more of those.

4. Jacksonville Jaguars: Leonard Fournette, RB, LSU

Blake Bortles regressed last season, but Jacksonville still has quality receivers and will need some balance. Fournette could be a workhorse.

5. Tennessee Titans: Jonathan Allen, DE, Alabama

There are questions about Allen's shoulder, and it's not as if the Titans desperately need help on the defensive line, but he's too good to pass up.

6. New York Jets: Marshon Lattimore, CB, Ohio State

The Jets would trade down if lured by picks, but if they can't they'll have several options to help improve their wretched secondary.

7. Los Angeles Chargers: Jamal Adams, S, LSU

Adams has top-five talent, and could go then, but whether it's him or Hooker, picking a safety here would be a no-brainer for San Diego.

8. Carolina Panthers: Christian McCaffrey, RB, Stanford

Scouts love McCaffrey's versatility and Cam Newton sure could use some help. This selection could end up being a reach.

9. Cincinnati Bengals: Derek Barnett, DE, Tennessee

Edge rushers tend to go earlier than projected and Cincinnati needs to add some youth to its defensive line.

10. Buffalo Bills: Mitch Trubisky, QB, North Carolina

The Browns could trade ahead of Buffalo, but if they don't Sean McDermott will go for the questionable quarterback.

11. New Orleans Saints: Haason Reddick, LB, Temple

There hasn't been a prospect that has climbed as many draft boards this offseason. Reddick could be the playmaker the Saints need on defense.

12. Cleveland Browns: Mike Williams, WR, Clemson

Cleveland will have its pick of receivers at this spot, and while tempted to take a quarterback, the best choice here is Williams.

13. Arizona Cardinals: O.J. Howard, TE, Alabama

Larry Fitzgerald's career is waning and Arizona needs receivers for whoever they eventually draft to succeed Carson Palmer.

14. Philadelphia Eagles: Corey Davis, WR, Western Michigan

Even if a quarterback isn't selected in the first 13 slots, the Eagles should get a quality prospect. Davis deosn't exactly address a pressing need, but he'll do.

15. Indianapolis Colts: Takkarist McKinley, DE, UCLA

The Eagles could be enticed to taking a high-motor edge rusher like McKinley, but the Colts will gladly add another piece to their needy defense.

16. Baltimore Ravens: Reuben Foster, LB, Alabama

There are some concerns about Foster's character, but he's a thumper and would partner well with C.J. Mosley.

17. Washington Redskins: Dalvin Cook, RB, Florida State

Former GM Scot McCloughan probably would have passed on this character concern, but with Dan Snyder and Bruce Allen back in charge, all bets are off.

18. Tennessee Titans: John Ross WR Washington

Ross has two surgically repaired knees and is small, but the speedster could be the deep threat Marcus Mariota is sorely missing.

19. Tampa Bay Buccaneers: Cam Robinson, T, Alabama

Tamp Bay needs to upgrade Jameis Winston's protection, and while this is a weak offensive line draft, the Bucs could get the first tackle here.

20. Denver Broncos: Forrest Lamp, G, Western Kentucky

Lamp may be the only offensive lineman who could be penciled in as a starter on Day 1. John Elway may like him at tackle right away.

21. Detroit Lions: David Njoku, TE, Miami

Detroit drafted Eric Ebron only three years ago, but it needs playmakers on offense and this draft potentially has a handful at tight end.

22. Miami Dolphins: Charles Harris, OLB, Missouri

It would not be a surprise to see Harris - like Barnett - go earlier than expected. The numbers weren't there in 2016, but the athleticism is intriguing.

23. New York Giants: Ryan Ramczyk, T, Wisconsin

If Cook falls, this could be the landing spot for the running back. But the Giants still need help on the offensive line and Ramczyk wouldn't be a stretch.

24. Oakland Raiders: Tre'Davious White, CB, LSU

The Raiders don't necessarily need a corner to step in and start immediately, but this would be a value selection.

25. Houston Texans: Patrick Mahomes, QB, Texas Tech

Maybe it's Mitch Trubisky, but the guess here is that Bill O'Brien will be more attracted to Mahome's considerable arm strength and upside.

26. Seattle Seahawks: Kevin King, CB, Washington

This is a trendy pick because Richard Sherman could be on his way out and King played nearby. But the corner would really fit into Pete Carroll's scheme.

27. Kansas City Chiefs: DeShaun Watson, QB, Clemson

A quarterback here would be a gamble considering that the Chiefs are still poised to make a run, but Alex Smith may never get Andy Reid over the top.

28. Dallas Cowboys: Quincy Wilson, CB, Florida

Like his teammate Teez Tabor, Wilson ran a slow 40-yard dash at the combine. His film, though, should be enough to get him off the board before the end of the first day.

29. Green Bay Packers: Adoree' Jackson, CB, Southern California

As many as six or seven cornerbacks could go in the first round. Some teams may wait, though, thinking depth at the position will cause potential starters to fall.

30. Pittsburgh Steelers: T.J. Watt, OLB, Wisconsin

Is he as talented as J.J.? No. But like his big brother, Watt has considerable upside. He could play either inside or out in Pittsburgh.

31. Atlanta Falcons: Dion Dawkins, G, Temple

Atlanta may want to add an edge rusher here, but Dawkins is a mauler and Matt Ryan is still the Falcons' franchise.

32. New Orleans Saints: Jabrill Peppers, S, Michigan

New Orleans could keep stockpiling on defense and use the pick it got in return for Brandin Cooks on the versatile Peppers.
