MLB transaction round-up

MLB had a busy weekend, as key pieces fell into place for some teams, and for others, created gaping holes.

- The Yankees are indicating that their priority this offseason will be signing Carlos Beltran, after locking up Brian McCann.

- The Marlins are reportedly interested in pursuing C Dioner Navarro and starting pitcher Phil Hughes.

- SS Jhonny Peralta of the Tigers signed a deal to go to St. Louis for four years. Peralta was one of the biggner names involved in the Biogenesis PED scandal, and served a suspension at the end of the regular season. This prompted Diamondbacks reliever Brad Ziegler to categorize Peralta's new deal rather negatively.

- Brian McCann will fill the Yankees' needs at catcher, in a deal worth $85 million and lasting for five years. A vesting option for a sixth year could make it a $100 million agreement in the future. McCann will be 34 in five years.

- 38-year-old starter Tim Hudson made his two year, $23 million deal with the Giants official, composing a letter of gratitude to the Braves and their fans.

- Setup man Joe Smith's three solid seasons in Cleveland have finally got him a ticket somewhere else. The Angels snared the right-handed reliever, who has posted a 2.76 ERA over five seasons and 271 innings with the Indians, agreeing on a three-year, $15 million deal.

- No one can confirm the validity, but it's rumored that Robinson Cano, he ofthe $310 million price tag, met with the Tigers this weekend. This comes after Jay-Z, Cano's representative, held a secret meeting with the Mets, as well.

- After a disappointing year with the Nationals, Dan Haren will be moving on, thanks to a one-year, $10 million deal with the Dodgers that hinges on Haren throwing 180 innings.

- Underwhelming 2013 Rangers outfielder David Murphy has agreed to a two-year deal with the Indians worth $12 million to be their everyday right fielder, a deal that was broken initially when Murphy's daughter let it slip to her teacher.
