Michael Vick: 'He's thinking about making a change at the quarterback position'

POSTED: Sunday, October 28, 2012, 5:48 PM

What is most to blame for the Eagles’ defensive failings?
The line’s lack of sacks
The secondary
The scheme
It all goes back to Andy Reid.

Michael Vick understands everything is being evaluated -- including quarterback -- after the Eagles' 30-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons dropped the team to 3-4.

"Obviously, he's thinking about making a change at the quarterback position," Vick said of Andy Reid. "The thing I do know, and I'll go watch the film and I'll evaluate myself, is that I'm giving us every opportunity to win. I'm trying my hardest. Something don't go right when I want them to. Some things do. If that's a decision that coach wants to make, then I support it."

After his news conference, Vick was asked again about his remarks.

It's tough when you know everything is in the balance, but that's the decision that coach is thinking about making, and I'm going to fight until he says, 'Come on out,' and he takes me out of the game," Vick said.

Vick went 21 of 35 for 191 yards and one touchdown on Sunday. He also rushed for 45 yards.

When Vick was asked if he's playing like a franchise quarterback, he wavered. He keeps talking about effort, but performance also needs to be there.

"I don't know if playing like a franchise quarterbacks means throwing three or four touchdowns week in and week out and doing everything right," Vick said. "But I know I've been there before and despite it all, I still feel like I do a lot of positive things out there and that's all I can ask. But I still have to evaluate myself and be critical of myself and we'll go from there."

Wide receiver DeSean Jackson said he's "sticking with" Vick.

"He's here, he's our quarterback," Jackson said. "Until something different happens, I got to roll with it. I feel he does a good job. Just got to make it easier on everybody."

Is he kidding? Vick has had more to do with them losing their games
then the ones they have won?

Vick had nothing to do with your loss. Use your eyes.. Defense could not stop no one... Nnmadi is not that good you got beat out of money on him.. Drc got picked on all day not good. Wide 9 SUX>... O-line is the dumps.... Play calling better today but when you see your Dfense can not stop the other people what you do.? Yo Throw IT

He is the Allen Iverson of the NFL. All the athletic prowess in the world without the fundamentals, mental acumen or discipline necessary to succeed at a championship level.

If vick can't succeed with a dumbed-down offense like they obviously ran today, then yes, it's time for a change.

I am telling you that this is Reid's last chance to save his job. Benches Vick with the hope Foles looks good and pulls out a few wins. Goes to Jeffrey, tells him can make a run with Foles and some more teaching, Jeffrey agrees, and Reid gets a short extension.

Vick's averaged 17 points a game since week one. That was always enough for Reid until now. So what's the problem? Oh, their opponents usually score more and I guess Reid just figured that out. Go with Vick until the end of the season than we can kiss both of them off.

The worse move the Eagles had made in the last 25 years was making VICK the face of the franchise and the so called leader of the team...They put the team backwards by 10 years...wht happened to the real leaders that this team used to have?? Where are the Dawkins,,,Westbrooks etc who were men and would lead...most guys worth anything would be saying I dont want to lose my job...this guy just doesnt care all he cares about is a paycheck...when your team leaders are felons and punks like Vick and Jackson this is what you get....Here is the good news the DUMBO and JUMBO show has at the most 1 week left..cant wait till the day comes when we dont have to see Vicks smug mug anymore

Should Vick be worried about his job? Of course not! He still has five years under his $100 million contact. What's he got to worry about? And he finally had a game without a turn over, so I guess he's getting better. Why not give him another 9 games like management is giving Reid?

actually, the eagles can cut vick for nothing after the season. his contract gives him zero job security. your 5 year $100 million statement really doesn't have anything to do with anything

It does't matter if its Vick, Foles , etc. Reid needs to go, his playcalling is past tired, its dead sleep and the Oline flat out stinks.
I like Vick but I'd hate to Foles get killed and end his career, if he has one, before it gets started. I tell you who needs to go is Nhamdi and Colmen. Nhamdi is a relic and Coleman just can't play, just a suggestion but let Boykins take Nhamdi's spot what harm could it do, he may not be tall but at least he won't get dusted every week.

There is nothing to be gained by keeping Vick at QB. He isn't going to be here in 2013 so what's the harm in letting Foles get his shot. The offense should be scoring more so a more settled calmer approach to the position might bring out the potential in the offense.

VICK SUCKS...Vick has Eagles LAST IN POINTS SCORED PER GAME in entire NFL......Eagles are really afraid of Vick's record INTERCEPTIONS, so they are playing it very safe by having Vick only throw 3 yard passes....Matt Ryan completely outplayed Vic...again...Vick is a $100 million dollar fraud...DUMP VICK...START NICK.

    Bad O line.
    Bad D line.
    Bad QB.
    Bad coaching.
    Bad secondary.

Can Vick play FS? No? Neither can Kurt Coleman. Put Vick back there, start Foles and the result can't be much worse than the product that stunk the joint up Sunday afternoon.

They should have taken Russell Wilson in the draft he would have been the perfect fit here dude can straight out ball for his size. The kid was NFL ready out of the gate and would have take Vicks spot without any question.

Vick cannot play in this offense. It is that simple. It was obvious last year and more obvious this year. Mcnabb was not great in this offense. It requires quick decisions, accuracy. It is not about race, it is a type of QB for this style and Reid never has gotten that right. Garcia played it the best. Then Ty Detmer. Crazy, but true.... Vick is a mess....

Vick and jackson are two physical and mental midgets. Every 3 or 4 weeks they might be good for a great highlight but winner they are not. The last two years makes that crystal clear.

sure...let's blame Vick for this loss, the loss to Detroit, global warming, all of the dog fighting that is happening across America and the strained race relations in this country...Being a QB in Philly is probably harder than the time he served in prison....

Most people watching this game today know what the problem is - the team quit !

No, not anyone area, the whole team.

Laurie has to know who they quit on - it is Andy Reid ?

At this point, it makes no difference.

Reid and Vick need to be replaced. Continued support for them by management, will erode any confidence that they know anything about what is going on.

Painful to do in midseason, but the seperation now will be a hundred times better than a total collapse. That is where they are headed if they don't make the tough changes now.

U can blame the defense all u want, but the problem with this team is that our coach does not know how to use his weapons. McCoy 15 touches, in a GM.

Maybe I'm a voice in the wind, but the season isn't over yet at 3-4. Bowles had a tough initiation against a QB on the rise. He will learn from what Atlanta did. As for the offense, it wasn't all Vick's fault, but he seemed ordinary, and his comments indicate he's no longer confident in the team or his abilities. Now Reid will put in Foles, run the ball more and the offense will come to life.

I think your breaking wind. One thing that was noticeable today was the size of Atlanta's receivers compared to the Eagles receivers. They can catch the ball and break tackles. Notice the Eagles are no longer catching many long balls, and now their offense is looking very dull. Shady is the only player that provides any excitement.

Wow Vick didn't turn the ball over. So. He cost the team all the other losses. Why can't the O bail out the D? Because they F%$#king suck. Marty has to go too. He's lost a step and the play calling is horrendous.

Vick is the "Ryan Howard" of baseball? What an insult to one of the greatest Phillies in history. Yes, Howard does have a ring doesn't he? I said before the season, the Eagles at best would be 8-8. I should have said 6-10. I made the remark after Vick's "dynasty" comment. The Phillies are a dynasty. The Eagles, as always , are a joke. Until Andy Reid is fired & he new regime gets a chance to rebuild this thing from the ground up, there will be no hope for the Eagles. They don't have the talent, desire, or leadership to do what our baseball team has done & will do again. Case closed.

Vick had a few passed batted down. He also ran a two minute drill that looked like Mcnabb in the Super Bowl. Way too slow at 31-10 getting it to 31-17. Did you ever see Brady or Manning run the two minute? It's like a military drill. Vick was not the reason we lost but he has not shown improvement in the year as whole. Time to move on. Only Foles can save Reid's job.
