From the beginning, it was an uphill climb for Donovan McNabb.
Accepting his Eagles jersey at the 1999 NFL Draft amidst a sea of boos wasn't a great sign. Little did Eagles fans know, he would wind up being the greatest QB in franchise history.
But at the time, they wanted Ricky Williams, who went to the Saints two picks later. Fans who felt that McNabb was picked over Williams were incensed, spending the next ten years living in "what if..." fantasies. But Jeffrey Lurie shined some light through the fog of history today, as McNabb officially retired as an Eagle.
#Eagles owner Jeff Lurie claims it was between Donovan McNabb & Edgerrin James for the team in the 1999 draft, not Ricky Williams.

It turns out, Ricky Williams in an Eagles uniform isn't even a fantasy.
