Allen Iverson returned to the Sixers tonight for the team’s first practice back from the All-Star break.

Iverson has been in Atlanta as his daughter Messiah is being treated for an undisclosed illness. Iverson would not talk about the specific illness, but said that Messiah will be brought to Children’s Hospital in Philadelphia.

He said doctors have assured him they will be able to figure out what is ailing the 4-year-old.

The Sixers host the Miami Heat tomorrow night and Iverson is expected to return. Coach Eddie Jordan would not commit to starting Iverson but indicated he is leaning against it. He said Iverson would be in the top seven in the rotation. "To me, he's different. He's so many years in the league. He's an 11-time All-Star. He's had a personal issue to deal with. I just want to make sure that physically he was in some type of rhythm and he had his legs under him. We'll have to see tomorrow how he responds."

Asked about not starting, Iverson said, “That is so far from my mind right now. That's the last thing that I'm thinking about. We've got to do what's best for the team."

Iverson has missed the Sixers’ last five games and did not participate in the All-Star Game. He initially intended to head to Dallas for All-Star weekend but a source said last week that his daughter’s condition worsened, leading to a change in plans.

My buddies son just went through the same thing in California. For 4 weeks the best doctors could not tell why he was sick and losing weight. Finally one doctor diagnosed a rare parasitic infection. Scary stuff with kids.

Iverson's done a great job since he came back to the Sixers. I hope things get straightened out with his daughter.

1983- She is a innocent 4 year old girl. Using Karma in that sense is not right. Maybe you should visit the children's hospital and tell all the kids there that the reason behind their illness is parent's karma.

Iverson`s attitude as a Sixer this year has been great. I hope his daughter gets better and the Sixers keep winning. Hoping the Sixers lose to improve draft order is a waste of time. I tried that the last few years and it is no fun. Look at how many top 10 picks turn out to be busts anyway.

Iverson will fit in fine. He's been nothing but a positive force since returning to Philly. Plays team ball, good lockerroom guy, and playing efficient. This team is better off WITH Iverson than without him. If he can help bring Philly to the 8th seed, he'll have some teams calling this summer.

Can't believe he named his daughter Messiah. I mean, isn't that setting a kind of high standard for her to live up to, unless, of course, Iverson already knows that she'll be the second coming of Jesus, or Muhammed or Elijah, or whatever.
