Injury roundup: Ruiz rehab begins Wednesday

And now your daily Phillies injury report:

Catcher Carlos Ruiz met with concussion specialist Michael Collins in Pittsburgh and was cleared to begin a rehab assignment for triple-A Lehigh Valley on Wednesday. Ruiz, who has been on the disabled list since June 19 with a concussion after being hit by a broken bat, will play between seven and nine innings for the IronPigs.

Phillies general manager Ruben Amaro Jr. said it's still possible Ruiz could return before the All-Star break.

Third baseman Placido Polanco (left triceps tendinitis) can resume baseball activities on Saturday. The hope, Amaro said, is to have Polanco back in about two weeks from now.

LeBron James is expected to announce Thursday night where he will play next season. Which of the following best reflects how you feel about it?
I hope he goes to the Knicks or Nets, so I can watch him play against the 76ers in the Atlantic Division.
I hope he goes to the Clippers in the West, so we won’t have to play him often.
At this point, I could not care less.

Righthander Ryan Madson (broken right toe) will pitch again Tuesday night for Lehigh Valley, his second of back-to-back games. Madson will be evaluated by Phillies doctors on Wednesday and could be activated then.

Lefthander Antonio Bastardo (left elbow inflammation) will begin a rehab assignment for single-A Clearwater on Saturday. So will righthander Chad Durbin (right hamstring strain). That means both of them are likely to not return until after the break.
