Honors for Kolb and Jackson
Jeff McLane
Quarterback Kevin Kolb was named NFC offensive player of the week for his performance against the Chiefs last week and wide receiver DeSean Jackson will be named NFC special teams player of the month for September.
Jackson opened the season with an 85-yard punt return for a touchdown against the Panthers and leads the NFL in punt return average (22.2).
-- Kolb completed 24 of 34 passes (70.6 percent) for 327 yards with two touchdowns and no interceptions for a 120.6 passer rating in the Eagles’ 34-14 win over Kansas City. Kolb also scored on a rushing touchdown, the first of his career.
-- He became the first quarterback in NFL history to pass for 300 yards in each of his first two career starts. In Week 2, Kolb passed for 391 yards against New Orleans.
-- He threw a 64-yard touchdown pass to Jackson, the second consecutive game the duo has combined for a 60+ yard score. The last Eagles duo to connect on 60+ yard touchdowns in back-to-back games was QB Ron Jaworski and wide receiver Mike Quick in 1985.
-- In his third season from Houston, this is Kolb’s first career Player of the Week Award.
-- Kolb is the sixth Eagles quarterback to be honored and the first since Donovan McNabb in 2004 (Week 13).
It figures, only an Andy Reid team would have a quarterback who throws for 300+ yards in each of his first two games. So much for a balanced offense. woogie
Great Job Eagles, possible foreshaddow of greater things to come. narutokuro
Kevin Benjamin Kolb! With a middle name like that, it's a prophecy. Richard Saunders

Rizdiggah, it comments like that the make people scratch their heads about Eagles fans. Let's just give it up to Kolb for getting the W in Donovan's absence. We are 2-1 heading into the bye. There is a lot of football left, but we now know that we have very capable young players. We should be gearing up for the season that could be...not looking for opportunities to tear down Donovan or any other player for that matter. Go E-A-G-L-E-S! TruFan
Donovan was also throwing to T Small, not DeSean Jackson. JerkStore
Don't count your eggs before they hatch. He haven't proven anything yet, but he looks good against so so defences. Daphillybully
Lots of crow to be served up today. Nice job Kevin, this should keep the haters quite for a least a week. craig123
Woogie: It figures. Kolb throws for 300+ yards in each of his first two games and wins NFC offensive player of the week and Eagles fans use that as a reason to complain. Falkirk
AR finally got a good game plan together, just as 499, E-nutt, myself and others were looking for. Ball control, running, short passes and run after the catch. Those were what KK needed to excel and AR made it happen. AR took the responsibility for the game and spread it around to everyone. KK had a nice pass to Celek at the end but has to stop leading receivers into defenders. That's bad news. Another problem is KKs lack of a deep ball. Teams will feast on those 8 yard slants unless he develops a long game. Short slants = pick 6, but KK did OK and a split was what was all that can be expected considering the competition. One lousy game against a good team, one good game against a lousy team. Not bad. D still needs to play better IMO. 14 points to KC was too much but in the end they just lost interest, no competition. Need more out of Vick but him at wildcat still has interesting potential. Still early in the season. tpizza
