Report: Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels suffered offseason shoulder 'soreness'
Phillies pitcher Cole Hamels has reportedly suffered "soreness" in his shoulder while taking part in an winter training regimen, reports Jim Salisbury of CSN Philly.
The starter, who received a $144 million, six-year extension this past July, appears to be fine. General manager Ruben Amaro downplayed the matter, claiming, "...we don't view this as an issue at all."
After "getting aggressive" with his workouts in October, Hamels was reportedly struggling enough for the team to "shut him down" for a few weeks, Amaro says. While he remained mum on whether or not the 29-year-old pitcher had been treated for the pain, Amaro explained that Hamels did not need to be examined.
