Graham chastised for tweet

POSTED: Thursday, September 9, 2010, 1:34 PM

Brandon Graham was called to Andy Reid's office Thursday for some chastising after the Eagles coach found out the rookie defensive end had stirred the opponent with a "tweet."

On Monday, Graham wrote on Twitter: "Its time to get ready for them Green Boys this week! I cant wait to whisper something in Aaron Rodgers ear.....SACK!!!!!!"

Reid "didn't like it," Graham said. "I was only trying to have some fun. But I learned my lesson."

Graham said that he wasn't punished and that he's still slated to start Sunday.

Rodgers, during a Wednesday conference call with Philadelphia reporters, was told of Graham's tweet.

"What's he going to whisper in my ear?" Rodgers asked.

Told that Graham wrote, "sack," Rodgers replied, "Is he?"

The Packers quarterback then had some nice things to say about Graham and the banter that goes on between teams. The Eagles, of course, have been stung before by one their players' overzealous tweets.

Last season, after the Eagles lost to the Cowboys in the regular season finale, wide receiver DeSean Jackson wrote on Twitter that his team was going to bounce back the next week against Dallas and was going to "sting they ass" in the playoffs.

The Eagles, of course, lost that game, too.

Reid would later say, "I don't know what a 'tweet' is, but that was a bad tweet."

COORDINATORS SPEAK

Here are the highlights from Thursday's press conferences with the Eagles' coordinators:

-- Special teams coordinator Bobby April wouldn't exactly say definitively that DeSean Jackson and Ellis Hobbs would be the punt and kick returners Sunday -- he's saving that for Reid -- but he said there was a "good chance" they would. Translation: They are. Hobbs later told me that he would, indeed, be returning kicks.

-- Offensive coordinator Marty Mornhinweg wouldn't say if Mike McGlynn would take a series or two at center with Jamaal Jackson still likely not 100 percent game ready. McGlynn did take a few repetitions with the first team during practice, though.

“We’ll see what happens with Jamaal," Mornhinweg said. "I do believe that Jamaal is in excellent physical condition. Maybe the best that he’s been in, however, there are different kinds of physical condition in football. Our strength men, coaches and our trainers have just done an outstanding job with all of our players, including Jamaal.”

-- Defensive coordinator Sean McDermott confirmed that cornerback Dimitri Patterson would be the fourth, in-case-of-emergency safety.

-- McDermott had the quote of the day when he was talking about his excitement for Sunday's home opener.

"It’ll be a great environment in Philadelphia," McDermott said. "It doesn’t get any better than playing at home on opening weekend, and wearing those [1960] uniforms. I think it will be a great day for football, the barbecues will be flying around, and the tailgates, and we’re going to need those fans come this weekend.”

If you're coming to Lincoln Financial Field Sunday make sure to look out for flying Weber grills.

The kid is excited, it's game 1, so I can see his energy coming out. But don't need to feed the monster about to walk into your front yard, let your actions speak for itself.

Father of the Year Andy Reid chastizes Graham for a tweet, yet has 2 convicted felon sons. Anyone else see the hypocrisy there?

Considering Graham hasn't seen one regular season snap, maybe he should play a few downs before predicting what he's goint to say when he makes a play.

Oh, so now he can't discipline his players because of the transgressions of his children? With that logic, does that mean a doctor should quit practicing medicine if his kids ever get sick?

I am always amazed at the stupidity of Eagles fans. How you get from a rookie's indescretion to Andy's Reid's failure as a Father is beyond me. I Love the Eagles and will continue to do so but I have lived away from philly for over 10 years and this is the kind of stuff that we as fans are remembered for. I get tired of apologizing for the Vet crowd, santa claus and battery filled snow balls. I can watch my Eagles on Direct TV and cheer and scream but i don't have to put up with the loonies in the crowd. i have been to many venues around the country and the philadelphia experience is by far the worse. Grow up guys. I don't really like Reid but leave his family out of it.

Dr.Michael you call yourself. I question that. You must not be a father or never made a mistake in life. Yea, I see the hypocrisy of yourself. This is a sports venue and you constantly bad mouth AR. Can't you immagine what pain those sons must have caused the man? You and that hypocatric judge believe AR fed his sons drugs? Try getting a life.

Who cares? what this guy tweets has no impact to the game. These idiot writers search for things to write about and try to make a big deal out of everything. The players say worse things to each other on the field. Its part of the game. Its like writing an article on the oval shape of the football.

JACK V Andy Reid was chastised by the Judge, not me ..calling his own home a 'drug emporium." If he cared about his convict sons that much, he would be home with them, not signing dog killers. Your liberal clap trap enables bad fathers like Reid when you irgnore the problem and make excuses.

Mike3793 - you are spot on! I'm a born/bred Philly Boy (Central High/Drexel grad) and fan for life, but haven't lived in the area for several years. Once you get away you can see some of the madness of our home town fans. While I love the passion and humor (no one's more humorous than Philly fans on Blogs), sometimes the locals go overboard
