Should the Eagles bring Jeremiah Trotter back?
Yes
No

Retired middle linebacker Jeremiah Trotter worked out for the Eagles, a team spokesman confirmed. The Eagles wanted to see what kind of shape he is in.

The workout was initially reported by Adam Schefter, of ESPN.

"Right now, it was just a workout and that’s it," Trotter said in an interview with WIP, for whom he now works. "We will see what happens in the near future … [Andy Reid] He has my number and we’ll go from there.

Trotter, 32, last played two seasons ago with Tampa Bay. He had two stints with the Eagles, 1998-2001 and then 2004-06. He was the team's defensive MVP in 2001 and '05. He played for Washington in between his Eagles stints. Trotter said he feels like he has not lost a step since his departure for the Redskins.

“Going over today, I was nervous as heck," Trotter said. "I didn’t play all last year. When I was in Tampa, I really didn’t play. I practiced every day, but I didn’t play. It’s just like showcasing yourself. I was nervous. I knew I had put in good work this offseason. I had a trainer for a while. I trained with Sheldon and Akers and I feel really good. I’m not in football shape. That is going to take me getting out there on the field. For not playing for two years, I’m in pretty good shape. My body feels a lot better. Had surgery on my left calf. I feel really good. I felt explosive. I feel light. I feel like I got my quickness. It was confirmed and I got the feeling that it went really good.

The Eagles have not found a solution at middle linebacker since Stewart Bradley was injured. After giving Joe Mays the chance to win the job, Omar Gaither has started the first two games while Mays rehabbed a shoulder strain.

“When Stewart went down, I talked to Andy about everything that was going with Jim [Johnson]," Trotter said. "I told him I was in great shape and I could help him out. Nothing happened. He called me today and told me to come in for a workout.”

Perhaps this is just insurance in case there is another injury at middle linebacker. But even then, it seems like a potentially strange move.

This is ridiculous. I love Trott, but they cut him two years ago because they said he couldn't play anymore. Are they really going to try to sell us on the idea that NOW he can play? Gimme a break.

"The birds are in for a long season"- that's it, completely overreact to one loss. The doomsayers will be the same ones calling travel agencies about super bowl packages if they win this weekend in KC.

It took Les only a few seasons after the switch to figure out that there was no penalty box at the Linc, and that the time really wasn't his, despite what Andy Reid kept saying. Les came to Philadelphia and the Daily News from Charlotte in 1983. In the intervening years, he has pretty much lost track of NASCAR, and his accent.
