Eagles take care of business

POSTED: Sunday, September 26, 2010, 7:23 PM

Behind another strong start from Michael Vick, the Eagles brushed aside the Jaguars, beating an inferior opponent for the second consecutive week.

Vick went 17 for 31 passing, for 291 yards and three touchdowns and a 119.2 passer rating. For the second week in a row, he led the Eagles to several explosive plays while avoiding turn overs.

Against a punchless Jaguars team, the game really felt like it might be over after one half. The Eagles took a 14-3 lead on their final drive of the second quarter, and it seemed unlikely that Jacksonville could catch up. Vick added a 45-yard touchdown pass to Maclin and a 17-yard scoring run in the third quarter to put the game completely out of reach.

With Sean McDermott's defense playing a complete game for the first time this year, and a variety of Eagles applying quarterback pressure -- including Brandon Graham, Trent Cole, Juqua Parker and even Trevor Laws and Darryl Tapp -- the Jaguars were stifled.

A big piece of NFL success hinges on beating the few truly weak teams on a schedule, and the Eagles did that Sunday. Tougher tests will be coming, but so far the team has thrived with Vick.

Andy Reid might have looked like a flip-flopper during the week, but with Vick's performance today, he also looked right.

If you are an Eagles fan how in the world can you be criticizing what has transpired with #7 as the QB? Man the negativity emanating off these posts is just ridiculous at times. Come on! This is exciting Eagles football. With Kolb this season would be ending when the playoffs begin. Not so sure about that now.

Jacksonville was truly a flacid, limp, estrogen fueled, poor excuse of a football team...I had no idea that they were THAT BAD, I feel sorry for Jones-Drew, their quarterback makes Jason Campbell look like Peyton Manning...wow, flacid and limp, disgraceful, they should be forced to play in the NFC West with those other worthless teams in that division

The Jags got bit by a vicious, ravenous, hungry Vickbull and he locked his jaw and that a*s and shook those kitty cat Jags something terrible...Please God don't allow me ever to witness such a terrible mauling again, they should have friendly quit at halftime and crawled off with their tails between their legs...Wroof Wroof. Sikofit, I stay hard and I go hard brother, especially on Sundays!

I agree with the "Eagles bleed money" blogger, the team went on the road and took care of business in-doors and outdoors. The O-line will get better hopefully while we have a soft schedule, but a win I will take. I'm gonna love hearing the sports casters blast the skins today, I live in the D.C area, and talk big-time trash to the skins fans!Lol Oh I will be listening to 610wip, at 10 this morning...By the way, did anybody see Deuce Staley on the sidelines? I didn't know that Andy had him on his staff? maybe we will get "Dawk" and Westbrook in the future.(philly-Fan from Mount-Airy).
