The Eagles have signed wide receiver Riley Cooper, a rangy fifth round draft pick from Florida. He signed a four year contract, the team said.
Cooper, listed at 6-foot-3 and 222 pounds, caught attention in May practices with his big frame and strong hands. At Florida he had 81 receptions for 1,496 yards and 18 touchdowns in 51 career games. In 2009 he was named second-team All-SEC.
He will be behind DeSean Jackson, Jeremy Maclin and Jason Avant, but could compete with Hank Baskett for a role as a big target, especially near the end zone.
The Cooper deal leaves just two unsigned draft picks for the Eagles as training camp approaches: first rounder Brandon Graham and second round pick Nate Allen.
Rookies and selected veterans are scheduled to report to camp Monday, July 26.
Cooper was also drafted by the Texas Rangers in 2009, in the 25th round, and by the Phillies in 2006, in the 15th round of baseball's draft.
