The Eagles are hoping to arrange a private workout with Maryland receiver Darrius Heyward-Bey, according to the St. Paul Pioneer Press.

Heyward-Bey has already worked out with the Baltimore Ravens, who brought in quarterback Joe Flacco to throw to him. Tampa Bay reportedly has a visit scheduled and Minnesota is looking to arrange a visit.

Heyward-Bey posted the fastest time at the scouting combine this year, running the 40-yard dash in 4.3 seconds. He also measured 38 1/2 inches in the vertical jump.

The Eagles might have to move up to get him, if they were interested. Draft guru Mike Mayock suggested over the weekend that Heyward-Bey might be a good fit for Oakland with the seventh pick.

Since we know Eagles fans love discussions about receivers, USA Today put together its list of the top 12 wide receivers and the top four tight ends, according to NFLDraftScout.com. Click here

It would be a nice pick, I think, but anyone expecting immediate results from Heyward-Bey is kidding themself. He's a raw athlete who still has a lot to learn about the position. If only Rashad Barksdale had panned out, we would have a Barksdale and a Wee Bey on the same team (and and Omar).

No way this kid gets drafted in the top 10, Mike Mayock must be smoking something.

They have their young, talented receiver already. The odds of drafting to WRs in consecutive drafts and having them both pan out are very slim. They need a proven veteran posession receiver now.

For a change we have intelligent comments, instead of the venomous posts that I have been seeing here. I agree with JimG, there is no way he's a top ten pick. Mid teens at the earliest. I think RB Knowshown if he's there at 21 and or TE Pettigrew, but you never know with Andy, OL is always a possibility. Come on Draft Day !!!!!

There's no way to rate a college receiver as a 1st rounder unless he resembles Moss or Owens. Wait until 2nd, 3rd, or lower and get the same possibilities. WR is too chancy to use a 1.

They aren't drafting a receiver in the first round. What's the point in even speculating? Andy prefers average over good or great. he needs to prove to the world, that no matter how much cap space he has, no matter who is available, in the draft, via trade or free agency, that he can win with any plug-in player @ the positions of WR, TE, Guard, Center, LB. Why he insists on limiting himself in these positions, with all the money, draft picks and trade value in the world is anyone's guess.

If this team moves up it will be in order to nab an OT, not a WR. I may get crucified for this, but I can live with the trio of Jackson, Curtis and Baskett.

Philly 10, yelling won't get your pick. There are so many variables in the Eagles draft scenario that any mock draft is just a guess.

knew it was only a matter of time until we heard from Philly10 with Percy Harvin. Enough already!

Jackson, Curtis, and Avant/Baskett are already better than so many receiving corps around the league. People have been conditioned to believe it's our biggest need. We could absolutely stand an upgrade, but it's nowhere near as pressing as our needs at RB (number 1), or OT and TE. It's comparable to our need at CB and DE.

nice "wire" reference out of owumd. I think Jimmy McNaulty plays OLB in the SEC, maybe we can pick him up too.

JimG, Mayock could be right. He is talking about the Raiders.
