Eagles Aren't Looking to Trade Foles

News of Thursday's Eagles signing of former Oregon quarterback Dennis Dixon arrived right around the same time that USA Today reported former Eagles coach Andy Reid would like to see the Chiefs trade for Nick Foles.
As is often the case when apparent serendipity strikes, some folks put these two events together and concluded Foles was on his way out of here, sooner rather than later.
Eagles sources moved quickly Thursday to knock down some of the more outlandish Dixon theories, letting it be known quickly that the 2008 Steelers fifth-rounder and recent Baltimore Ravens practice squad QB is coming here because he was available for nothing and he has history with Chip Kelly's offense. Dixon is hardly in some sort of anything-goes competition to be the Eagles' starter, regardless of what you might have read or heard elsewhere.

Of course, any player is available for the right price. The Associated Press reported the Eagles wouldn't consider moving Foles, a third-round rookie last year, for anything less than a first- or second-rounder. He is unlikely to command that price off his six-start rookie season, which showed promise but resulted in a 1-5 record. The Eagles' surprise one-year reworking of Michael Vick's contract seemed to give Vick the inside track on starting for the Birds this season.
ESPN draft analyst Todd McShay held a conference call Friday in which McShay said nobody in the NFL he has talked to has a first-round grade on any quarterback in the 2013 draft. If that's true, Foles' trade value might go up. But the Eagles would have to be willing to trade him.

The Eagles announced the signing of OT Ed Wang, 6-5, 315, a 2010 Buffalo draftee who played last season for the Raiders. Wang's parents were 1984 Chinese Olympians. Though Wang was born in Virginia, he is considered the first full-blooded Chinese-American drafted into the NFL.
ibg, allworld2, lpboys still have hope that all the qb's on the eagles roster will be black and the whiteboy will be traded! defroe- I dont think Foles is any kind of amazing Quarterback but he is probably the best QB on the roster. Which isnt saying much because he wont even command much more then a 4th round pick from most teams in he league. Vick and Dixon combined could probably only get a 6th rounder though so its not all bad. In fact Vick could go for a 7th and they could throw in Dixon for free.
Alpha 58, that was an awesome post! So true.

Unfortunately you are so right. I'm trying to keep a positive attitude about all this, but come week nine, when we're 1-8 with frickin Dennis Dixon starting because Vick's been out for weeks, the 4th round pick we got for Foles won't mean s___. rdglbav
There are things about Foles that I like to see in a quarterback,he seems to have good pocket awareness, and mobility, reacts well to pressure, keeps his head, keeps his eyes down field and throws a nice short pass.I don't know what his deep pass ability is but I assume someone drafted as high as he was can pass the ball.
I've seen enough of him to believe he deserves a chance. He looks a little bit like Eli did in his first year. Mike nomad
Please who saw Dixon ply for the Steelers when Ben was out knows this guy is a prctice squad player at best. Even in Kelly's offense the QB has to be a thrower with accuracy. Case closed on Dixon. Big Ben
soulman,,,,Exactly... What else could we expect them to say.
Throw out the " unless we are blown away" line and hope that someone does. Even money he is gone by training camp. For a #3. phillyroni
Man! Does anyone remember when genious college offensive master mind Steve Spurrier came into the NFL and brought Danny Wuerfel to the Redskins! Wuerfel was on his way out of the league, but under Spurrier's hard work and tutelage, that combo went to win Super Bowls, have a few perfect seasons, and save babies from dingos. This is starting to look a lot like that, and, I'll tell you but nobody else, it's EXCITING! Dixon - woohoo! NolaProf
In ny opinion, I really don't put too much stock in Philadelphia writers sources. Really. Anything that is a major development seems to be broken by national media. Philly media is suppose to be close to the situation but always seem to come up small. Examples------hiring of Chip Kelly, Vick signing, Butch Davis signing, the so call Rosenan deterent on finding a head coach and it seems the list goes on and on for days. Seems like bs to me. This whole conversation is comical. I wrote right here on this site 2 weeks ago Foles was toast and Dixon would be Vick's backup. No new coach is building a team around a under-talented player like Foles. He is slow and his arm is weak sbdons1982

Lurie is calling the shots more than ever since Reid is gone. There is no way that Lurie would have Foles as the face of his franchise. Lurie is the next Jerry Jones in disguise. Carlos2
