RUSH OFFENSE: LeSean McCoy played well in his first NFL start, averaging 4.2 yards per carry and rushing for a 5-yard TD on a direct snap. Eagles ran the ball 15 times for 55 yards out of the Wildcat/spread option. Grade: B-plus

PASS OFFENSE: Kevin Kolb racked up his second straight 300-yard passing game, including 64- and 35-yard touchdowns to DeSean Jackson and Brent Celek. Completed 70.6 percent of his passes and didn’t throw an interception. Grade: A-plus

RUN DEFENSE: Eagles’ front seven dominated the Chiefs’ offensive line, holding KC to 18 yards on nine first-half carries. Larry Johnson managed just 38 yards on 19 carries, and 26 of those 38 yards came on a pair of third-quarter rushing attempts after the Eagles went ahead 27-7. Grade: A

PASS DEFENSE: After blitzing very little last week against Drew Brees, the Eagles turned up the heat on Matt Cassel early and often. He completed 14 of 18 passes, but averaged a puny 5 yards per attempt. The tackling of the Eagles’ back seven was much better than a week ago as they allowed few yards after the catch to Chiefs receivers. Grade: B-plus

SPECIAL TEAMS: After committing an unpardonable five penalties last week, Ted Daisher’s special-team units were flagged just once Sunday. Ellis Hobbs not only didn’t fumble a kickoff return this week, he averaged 28.5 yards on the two he did bring back. Coverage units were solid and David Akers made both of his field goal attempts. Grade: A

OVERALL: The Eagles didn’t really prove much except that they can beat an awful team at home, though the impressive performances of Kevin Kolb and LeSean McCoy should provide some comfort to those who were worried that injuries to Donovan McNabb and/or Brian Westbrook would mean the end of civilization as we know it.
Grade: B-plus

Ok, Vick, go in for a play and try not to look horrible. After all, we're paying you. Oh, I said try NOT to look like a flag football QB. Having Vick on the team seems pointless. I guess I'll have to get a few games under my belt with him.

One other thing the Eagles proved is that there is no need for this "hybrid" offense. With all the weapons on this team, changing up only slows it down.

Hard to argue with any of the grades. I was hoping for Kolb to manage the game. He did much better than that. Offensive line play is encouraging.

If they beat the next 3 hapless teams, perhaps then , learning the new offense and tighter D, will encourage them to be the old blitzing, tough minded birds. The bye will heal up Don, West., Curtis and ..whoever else is down.

Time to abort the Vick experiment! Cut him and lets use the roster spot for a real need.

I think we're missing the point on Vick's role. KC spent 30% of their time preparing for the Birds Wildcat packages. That's a lot of time lost preparing for the mainstream Eagles offense. Do we really need the Wildcat to light it up if it's helping the O in unsung ways?

Time to abort the McNabb experiment, actually. Go Kolb go.

I think its way to early to give up on the Wildcat or Vick, for that matter. It seems to me that Andy is just trying to let Vick get his bearings gradually. Both the Wildcat and Vick may still be busts, but too early to judge.

Agree completely, jimmy - too early to make a judgement about Vick and the Wildcat.

If that Klob was a real QB, he would have had 600 yards passing the last 2 weeks. He only looked good because he was surrounded by talent. Wait a minute, Andy drafted that talent. Maybe the Eagles do know something.

Lonewolf all the yards Kolb passed for was against a terrible Kansas City team and a New Orleans team who had the game well in hand. I admit he did a better job than I thought he would but he still did not impress me enough to give him the starting Qb job over someone who has proven himself over and over. You name any team outside of Indy ad NE in this league who would not give up two firsts and two second round draft choices for DM. Just like when they ran Randall out of town let DM go and you will see just how good of QB Kolb is.

"OVERALL: The Eagles didn’t really prove much except that they can beat an awful team at home," My God you're such a Faux Eagles fan like many others. You can win for winning!!! They pounded these guys. They did it with a back-up QB and Running back and Middle Line backer. Give it a break. Why don't you come down here to the DC Area and see how these Deadskins are getting hammered.

Les BowenLes Bowen has covered the Eagles for the Daily News since 2002. Before that, he spent nearly 13 years covering the Flyers. It took Les only a few seasons after the switch to figure out that there was no penalty box at the Linc, and that the time really wasn't his, despite what Andy Reid kept saying. Les came to Philadelphia and the Daily News from Charlotte in 1983. In the intervening years, he has pretty much lost track of NASCAR, and his accent. He, his wife Barbara, and their two sons live in Haddon Township, New Jersey. E-mail Les at bowenl@phillynews.com and follow him on Twitter.

For the last 10 years, he’s been a selector for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. A native of Wilkes-Barre and a graduate of Wilkes University, Domo started his career in Texas, working first for the Midland Reporter-Telegram (1976-78), and then for the Fort Worth Star-Telegram, where he covered some god-awful Texas Ranger baseball teams. His first beat at the Daily News actually was boxing, which he covered just long enough to lose 2 sports coats to blood spatter before moving on to football. Domo and his wife Shelley, a University of Oklahoma grad who still hasn’t gotten over that Fiesta Bowl loss to Boise State 5 years ago, have 2 terrific daughters -- Allison, 28, who is an attorney in South Jersey, and Amy, 25, who works in administration for a professional baseball team.
