Myers' rehab start washed out
options
 

UPDATED: Brett Myers' rehab start at Lakewood was rained out today.

Myers is now scheduled to pitch the first game of a doubleheader Monday against Kane County (5:05 p.m. start).

He remains expected to throw one inning.

He declined to talk to reporters today.

Third baseman Greg Dobbs has been placed on the 15-day disabled list with a strained calf that he suffered while running the bases in the Phillies' 4-2 loss to the Mets Friday night.

Miguel Cairo, the veteran infielder who started the season on the Phillies' active roster, has been recalled from Triple-A Lehigh Valley.

To make room for Cairo on the 40-man roster, lefthander Antonio Bastardo has been moved from the 15-day disabled list to the 60-day disabled list.

    Smells more like an "injury" than an injury... Shouldn't Bruntlet have a "strained calf" if they're gonna do this right?

    I don't think an "injury" happens in the middle of the game like it did Friday night. Feliz entered for Dobbs in the 4th or 5th inning thereby shortening Charlie's bench. As for an "injury", I'm looking for Amaro to give Hamels a rest. He looks tired. Bruntlett doesn't look tired, he just looks awful. Speaking of tired, I can't wait to have a lefty pitch against us so Ibanez can get a break.

    Here's hoping "Dobbsy" is out for the season. I'm pretty sure anybody here posting on this board could fail as miserably in the clutch as he does. Worthless player.

    Dobbs was great last year. This year not so much. He has not proven himself to get the benefit of the doubt. One year wonder? He must perform, if not then find the hot bat. I know people are going to say Lidge needs to perform then, but Lidge has been a proven Lights out Closer for more then a year. He has been up and down at times in the past. But again has done it consistently in the past - Dobbs has not. I wonder if Dobbs contract went to his head? If you remember he was complaining before saying he should start in LF and wanted time over Burrell. They got Raul and quieted Dobbs ... who knows. I think he is nothing more than a pinch-hit guy. I personally have never really been a fan, but yes he was great last year!

    Just saw that they are giving Utley a day off and starting Bruntlett. A 4 for 4 day will get him up to .167.

    I think if Cairo proves to have a "hot" bat off the bench, he may replace Dobbs in the playoffs. Got to have some help there now and then against that type of good pitching we'll be facing. Good luck to Dobbs, a good player on a great team, and forever......a World Champion!

    Ok, nothing to do with Dobbs, but are we done with the Pedro experiment now? 11 IP, 8ER against the Cubs, D-backs and anemic Mets? I never wanted this ex-Met and Red Sox guy anyway. Please Ruben get rid of him. It's plain to see he stinks.

    Beard 3 hits and counting!!! Idiots this is the 6th time pedro has thrown in 1 year. You guys are clueless...He needs to work through this, this is spring training for him... Wake up!!

    Wow, 11 innings was enough for you to decide on Pedro? Why not just 11 pitches then? He's now thrown 14 innings and given up 8 runs, which isn't sterling but is still better than Moyer's ERA. And that's after hardly pitching for one year and an abbreviated 'spring' training. He could stay the same -- i.e. better than we had -- or he could improve as he rounds into game shape. If he gets worse, then yes, experiment over... But the guy is 2-0 and the Phillies are 3-0 in his starts. This is no accident: Pedro has the fifth highest winning percentage in baseball HISTORY. He has a nose for what's needed to win, like those 2 strikeouts in the 1st inning with a guy on 3rd base. Or maybe the fact that you "never wanted this ex-Met and Red Sox guy anyway" is more important to you than the Phillies winning.
