Danny Syvret was originally called up from Adirondack to replace Ole-Kristian Tollefsen in the lineup tonight in Pittsburgh.

Instead, the Flyers called him and told him not to come, that Braydon Coburn would be ready to return tonight in Pittsburgh. He missed last night's game with an ankle injury.

Syvret had two points in 13 games with the Flyers this year, then scored seven points in eight games with Adirondack.

Tollefsen is out 3-4 weeks with a sprained left MCL, but this is not the knee that caused him to miss a large portion of the season with Columbus last year.

The Flyers also have claimed goalie Michael Leighton from Carolina off re-entry waivers to back up Brian Boucher. The Flyers will send Johan Backlund back to Adirondack.

Leighton, who played briefly for the Flyers in 2007, had cleared waivers and was heading back to Albany, of the AHL. In seven games for Carolina this season, Leighton has a 4.28 goals-against and .848 save percentage.

Coburn is stinking it up this year. Have to separate him and Timonen. Put Coburn on the 3rd D pairing

I thought we solved our D problem when we got rid of Jones

I am not sure why we need a third goalie, that has been the least of our problems this year. It seems to me we are picking up all of the has beens from Carolina, if this goalie was so good why was he put on waivers to begin with??? On another note Coburn needs to be left on the bench, I don't understand how one day you have on a boot and have an ankle sprain and the next day your deemed healed and ready to play. I guess if they lose to Pitt it will be their excuse that Kimmo has a broken toe and Coburn was playing with a broken ankle. They need to get the team trainers, doctors and general manager drug tested, nothing coming out of the Flyers media makes sense anymore.

I said from the beginning that if Emery went down, we'd be in trouble. Again, Homer has ruined this franchise..no farm system at all. Picking up retreds is all this team does.

This is merely a move so Backlund can continue to play in the minors, they don't want him sitting on the bench for 6 weeks. Leighton can back-up just in case Boucher goes down during a game. This move was not done to have him be our number 1 goalie. Last I looked goaltending has not been an issue this year. Scoring is bad, defense spotty at times, but Boucher has done well and I've never been a big fan of his.
