CLEARWATER, Fla. -- Anything you can do ...

Cliff Lee followed Roy Halladay's impressive spring debut with his own before the Phillies' bullpen imploded in a 10-1 loss to the visiting Detroit Tigers on Monday at Bright House Field.

Lee worked quickly and effectively through two hitless innings. Just one Tiger reached base -- Miguel Cabrera on a first-inning walk. Lee recorded three ground ball outs, including one in which Chase Utley ranged three steps to his left and dived to rob Torii Hunter of a base hit in the first.

Lee sailed through the second, striking out the final two batters he faced before leaving.

Tyler Cloyd followed with two more hitless innings before things unraveled quickly and dramatically against closer Jonathan Papelbon in the fifth.

Papelbon, making his spring debut, allowed six runs -- five coming on two long home runs.

Cabrera hit a highlight worthy, 3-run home run over the Frenchy's Tiki Bar in left field five batters after prospect Nick Castellanos belted a two-run homer.

Papelbon struck out two but struggled throughout with his command. He also hit a batter and was pulled after issuing his second walk to go along with five hits.

He had company, however. Michael Stutes allowed two more runs in the sixth inning and, after Phillippe Aumont struck out one in a scoreless seventh, Ral Valdes gave up one in the eighth and a homer in the ninth as the Tigers stretched their lead to 10-1.

Offensive highlights were few for the Phillies, who were held to five hits.

Ryan Howard provided most of the Phillies' offense and their early lead.

He singled sharply through the Tigers shift to right field against left-handed starter Drew Smyly to start the second inning. That was his second hit against a lefty this spring.

In the fourth, Howard hit a long sacrifice fly to the track in center field to drive in Yuniesky Bentacourt and give the Phillies a brief 1-0 lead.

Howard added his second hit -- and third off a lefty in two days -- when he singled up the middle to open the seventh inning.

The Phillies, still looking for their first win this spring, host the Yankees on Tuesday. Kyle Kendrick is scheduled to make his first start.
