Kafka slow prodding QB, oldstyle, things have changed forever. Andy know that, Andy had Donovan and now Mike and Vince. Andy would never go back to oldstyle. Andy will trade Kafka just like he did with all the rest like him.

Dude, I'm not saying he's better than Vick (Vick makes impossible plays look easy), but Kafka hit every single receiver he threw to on sunday. And he had a sky-high completion percentage in the pre-season. He'll do alright if he has to play. They took VY because he's a somewhat proven player and in Andy's long-bomb, pass-happy offense, other teams T-off with the blitz and we need a QB who can run away from it.

not in so many words, but yeah, that's what he's saying.

I'm sorry, but things haven't "changed forever." What's Tom Brady's 40 time??? 2 minutes? What about Big Ben or Aaron Rodgers? McNabb and Vick were the exception, not the rule. Funny part is that everyone in this city wanted McNabb(and now Vick) to stop running and be a pocket passer. Kafka can do exactly what AJ Feeley did. Come in and run a game. He won't make SportsCenter's plays of the week, but he can beat a BAD Giants team.

Oh brother here we go. Look, the kids makes the best of what God gave him, but that baby arm will cause opposing defenses to play 8 in the box and cut loose with blitzes. The pass to Maclin looked like a punt, even though he completed it.

Wow. There's Kafka experts out there. If we dont have 7 I say announce the offensive players out of the tunnel for the opener. Kafka last. That'll fill him with juice and we go off. Lets get behind this kid.

Sayin that Kafka does not fit Andy offense. Andy way ahead of other coaches in NFL except maybe Tampa Bay. Kafka just not what Andy want, look at history, Kafka up for trade next year. He will give Kafka lip service but he don't mean it and really don't even want him as back up, thats why he got VY.

More racist comments from Tyrone. What a surprise. As soon as I saw the headline, I knew I would see at least one. Why don't you try to focus on capabilities instead of color? I know that is difficult in a society in which capabilities are always much less important.

VY? Very overrated! His main problem is connected to the rest of his body. If he got that right and learned the playbook he might be halfway decent.

@macd41144-those guys have o-lines that block. Andy knows that his o-line is garbage and he needs the mobility in order to remain a contender. Put Vick behind the Patriots, Steelers, Packers or o-line and see what happens.

Andy doesn't like QB's that get rid of the ball fast, are accurate, have a completion percentage above 60%, and that can read defenses.....IF he did...he would have kept KOLB and helped McNabb with a running game.

If Kafka is slow and plodding, how did he fit in Northwestern's offense? Watch a game tape of him against Ohio State. He chewed them up, with his mobility and passing. The NFL isn't a contest of who can run the fastest 40, even at wide receiver. If it was, Jerry Rice would have been mediocre.

About this blog
Rich Hofmann arrived at the Daily News in 1980 for a job whose status was officially designated as "full-time, temporary." A senior at Penn at the time, he was hired to fill in on the copy desk during a staff illness. The notion of him covering the Eagles or being a columnist did not exist in anyone's imagination. It was supposed to be six weeks and out, but he never left. It is only one of the reasons why so many people have concerns about him as a potential house guest. Rich has blogged the postseasons of the Flyers and Eagles. E-mail Rich at hofmanr@phillynews.com Reach Rich at hofmanr@phillynews.com.
