Bell deadline back to tomorrow; Reid doesn't expect match

ORLANDO -- After much confusion, the deadine for the Saints to match the Eagles' offer sheet for running back Mike Bell is officially tomorrow night at 11:59 p.m., as orginally reported.

Eagles general manager Howie Roseman said earlier today that the NFL had said it was tonight, but after some checking with the league office they apologized for the mistake.

Bell signed the one-year, $1.7 million sheet last week. New Orleans had seven days to match. They aren't expected to match, but they're obviously using most of their time on the clock.

Eagles coach Andy Reid said that he didn't expect the Saints to match the offer.

"I don't think they're going to match but who knows," he said.

Reid was also asked about the recent roster purge in which a half dozen players with large contracts were released.

"We felt it was the right thing to do," Reid said. "We go through that every year. I guess it was more drastic this year."
