Shoulder problem for top prospect

READING - After throwing his third warm-up pitch last night, Carlos Carrasco put his head down, his hands on his knees, and staggered toward pitching coach Tom Filer.

He told Filer his shoulder did not feel right. "I'd rather him say something like that," Filer said, "instead of trying to go out there and pitch through something and really do some damage."

Carrasco, the Phillies' top prospect, was scratched from his start at double-A Reading with right shoulder tightness.

He will be examined today by Phillies team doctor Michael Ciccotti.

The 21-year-old Carrasco (5-7, 4.18 ERA) has been mentioned as the cornerstone in possible trade talks for a veteran pitcher, or as a potential call-up to boost the Phillies' rotation. At least five scouts were at last night's game at First Energy Stadium.
