Phillies centerfielder Ben Revere said that he had never broken a bone before Saturday night.

Originally labeled by the Phillies a broken right foot, Revere said before Sunday’s game with the Chicago White Sox at Citizens Bank Park that it was actually a broken bone in his right ankle.

He will see a specialist on Monday to get a timetable on his return. Revere suffered the injury when he fouled a ball off his ankle in the 11th inning of Saturday’s 5-4 loss to the Chicago White Sox in the first of a day/night doubleheader.

He finished his at-bat, grounding into a game-ending double play.

Should the Phillies trade for a centerfielder?
Yes.
No.

“Am I frustrated, yes, but I can’t let myself get down,” Revere said. “I will be involved with my teammates the whole time.”

Revere will see a specialist and get a timetable on his return. He has improved his average to .305 and had hit safely in 14 of his last 15 games (.431), including 10 multi-hit games.

He was hoping the injury was a bruise, but sensed it was worse after running to first base.

“I tried to do everything I could to get down the first base line, hustle as much as I can,” he said. “When I came in it was swelled up.”
