Phantoms lose Game 2 to Hershey in AHL playoffs

Goalie Alex Lyon was injured in the 5-4 loss.

The Lehigh Valley Phantoms lost another goalie to an injury and, after a late meltdown, dropped a 5-4 decision to Hershey at the PPL Center in Allentown on Saturday night.

Hershey has a lead of two games to none in the best-of-five, opening-round series. Game 3 will be at the Giant Center in Hershey on Wednesday.

The Phantoms, who took a 4-2 lead into the final period, lost despite having a 34-17 shots domination.

Chris Bourque scored with 33 seconds left to give Hershey the comeback win. The 5-foot-7, 171-pound winger fired a shot from the center of the point, whipping the puck past screened goalie Martin Ouellette.

Hershey tied the score as Tyler Lewington's point shot appeared to deflect past relief goalie Oullette with 10 minutes, 5 seconds left in regulation. Ouellette had entered the game with 11:22 remaining after goalie Alex Lyon was helped off the ice with an apparent injured right leg.

The Bears' Travis Boyd was checked into Lyon, who went down and bent his right leg awkwardly.

With Anthony Stolarz sidelined for the rest of the season, Lyon was expected to carry the Phantoms' goaltending load.
