Freddy Galvis, Jeremy Hellickson star in Phillies' loss to Yankees

TAMPA - Freddy Galvis drove in two runs and Jeremy Hellickson pitched his best outing of spring but it was not enough as the Phillies fell to the Yankees, 3-2, in a Grapefruit League game at George M. Steinbrenner Field.

Galvis drove in Tommy Joseph and Michael Saunders with a two-run single in the second. Joseph had two hits, including a double. Saunders left the game in the fifth inning after being hit by a fastball on the hand by C.C. Sabathia. Saunders did not seem overly concerned as the team said his removal was a precaution.

Hellickson allowed one run on five hits in 61/3 innings. He struck out three and walked one. He threw 75 pitches, 52 of which were strikes. The righthander, who is scheduled to start for the Phillies on opening day, turned in his strongest performance of camp in what will be his last extended outing.

Michael Mariot allowed the winning runs in the ninth. Wilkin Castillo tied the game with a double and Trey Amburgey drove in the winning run.

The Phillies tagged Sabathia for nine hits, but scored just two runs against him. The Phillies left seven runners on base.
