1. 11 vs. 8: No. 11, Carson Wentz, and No. 8, Sam Bradford, were the plot line; Wentz, drafted to replace Bradford in April, then replacing him when Bradford was traded in August. Each was beset by penalties, drops and porous protection early and threw atrocious passes all day in the Eagles' 21-10 upset win over the previously unbeaten Vikings (5-1). They each threw an interception and each fumbled in the first 8 minutes of the first quarter, and Wentz added another pick before 10 minutes elapsed. It was Bradford's first pick of the season, Wentz's second and third. The wicked winds, which gusted up to 25 mph, played a role. Wentz was the winner, now 4-2 as Bradford's replacement as starter, but he finished 16-for-28 for 138 yards with a touchdown and two interceptions, and was responsible for a fumbled handoff. Bradford was a very misleading 24-for-41 for 224 yards and a touchdown, with an interception and four fumbles, two of which he lost.

2. Magnificent sevens: The front sevens were magnificent, especially the pass rushes. Bradford was blitzed mercilessly, hit repeatedly and sacked six times; was stripped of the ball four times; with the Eagles recovering twice. The Vikings did not notch a sack, but their pressures rattled Wentz early and led the Eagles to abandon all hope of any passing play that took time to develop. Certainly, both defensive fronts faced diminished offensive lines, but they performed as would be expected.

3. You ain't got no alibi: The teams combined for five turnovers and six penalties for 43 yards in the first 13 minutes. They finished with eight turnovers. Carson Wentz finished the first half with a 12.5 passer rating. Sam Bradford was at 38.6. At the end of the game Wentz made it to 52.4. Bradford, with some soft completions late in the game, wound up at 71.6. It was U-G-L-Y.

4. He's a rookie, too: Eagles coach Doug Pederson first elected to kick a field goal with 15 seconds to play in the second quarter on second down from the Vikings' 17; then, after a Vikings' timeout, sent the offense back onto the field, where it ran an ineffective play, which led to a field goal with 10 seconds left. On that drive Pederson also went for it on fourth-and-2, but only after draining the play clock and calling a timeout that he could have used in the aforementioned field-goal scenario.

5. He's special: After the Vikings took a 3-0 lead in the second quarter Josh Huff returned a kickoff 98 yards for a touchdown, the second of his three-year career. Wendell Smallwood had an 86-yarder last week at Washington, the first time in Eagles history the team had kickoffs returned for TDs in consecutive weeks.
