Carson Wentz

UP - Forget about the weak opponent, the favorable setting and the curtailed game plan, Wentz had a phenomenal debut. Was he perfect? Of course, not. But the rookie quarterback clearly displayed that he has the tools to succeed in the NFL, and most important, he got the win.

Doug Pederson

UP - He would have made his dad proud. A little more than week after his father, Gordon, passed away, Pederson notched his victory as an NFL head coach. His offensive play calling was balanced - 41 passes vs. 32 rushes - and his successful fourth-down call paid off with a touchdown a play later.

The Browns

DOWN - As one Eagles player said after the game, "The Browns aren't a very good team." While every win in the NFL is important, this one comes with a small asterisk.

Nelson Agholor

UP - It took him 10 games into his rookie season before he caught his first touchdown pass. Agholor needed only one to get on the board this year. He beat Pro Bowl cornerback Joe Haden off the line and Wentz dropped a 35-yard touchdown pass into his bucket.

Jordan Matthews

SIDEWAYS - Matthews led both teams with seven catches for 114 yards and a touchdown, but he also had two drops. The receiver gets a slight pass after missing all of the preseason with a knee injury, but after last season's woes, the mistakes remain troubling.

Kenjon Barner

UP - He did what every chance-of-pace running back should do: He took advantage of a defense that was charged up to stop starter Ryan Mathews and gained 42 yards on just four totes.

Eagles O-line

SIDEWAYS - It was a so-so outing against a subpar defensive front. The run blocking was inconsistent. The pass protection was a little better, but not nearly clean. The job could get tougher if Lane Johnson begins his suspension this week.

The officials

DOWN - Over the course of a game and a season, the bad calls typically even out, but the refs had an egregious call and no call before the Browns' lone touchdown. They missed Vinny Curry getting mugged to the ground and incorrectly called Malcolm Jenkins for pass interference.

Fletcher Cox

UP - The Eagles defensive line got on the board with Cox's bull-rush sack in the third quarter. Connor Barwin and Brandon Graham followed up with takedowns of Robert Griffin III in the fourth.

Rodney McLeod

UP - He had a quiet preseason, but the free-agent safety announced his arrival with a pop on a failed end around in the first. Later, McLeod notched his first Eagles interception after Jordan Hicks and Nolan Carroll deflected a Griffin pass.

Zach Ertz

UP - The tight end stretched out for a one-handed grab for Wentz's first completion, helping to calm the quarterback's nerves. Ertz also caught six of seven targeted passes for 58 yards.

Darren Sproles

SIDEWAYS - He had an electric 59-yard punt return and pitched in on the ground and through the air on offense, but Sproles also bungled two passes to the ground and had a near-lost fumble.
