Triple-A Lehigh Valley

Alec Asher looked to be pushing for a promotion to the majors until he was hit in the leg on May 17 by a ground ball. The righthander is now in Clearwater, Fla., after his shin contusion became a shin fracture that will keep him out for about a month. The 24-year-old had a 1.53 ERA in four starts with the IronPigs. . . . Mario Hollands was optioned to the IronPigs on Thursday after completing a rehab assignment. The lefthanded reliever is working his way back from Tommy John surgery. . . . Edward Mujica, who nearly made the Phillies out of spring training, saved his International League-leading 14th game on Thursday night. The righthander has not walked a batter or allowed a run in his last five outings. He has a 4.56 ERA this season but has issued just two walks in 23 2/3 innings. . . . Ben Lively has kept his momentum rolling after being promoted last month from double A. He allowed three runs in six innings on Wednesday night to record his first triple-A win. He has struck out nine batters and walked two over his first 13 innings with the IronPigs. The righthander had a 1.87 ERA in nine starts with double-A Reading. . . . Darin Ruf entered Friday batting .258 with five homers and 13 RBIs in his first 16 games since being optioned from the Phillies. . . . James Russell has been efficient at triple A after struggling in the beginning of the season with the Phillies. He has a 1.16 ERA in 23 1/3 innings, which includes four starts. The lefthanded reliever allowed nine runs in 4 1/3 innings during his time in the majors.

Double-A Reading

Dylan Cozens went 4 for 6 on Thursday afternoon as his impressive season rolled on. Cozens, who plays both corner outfield positions, entered Friday with an Eastern League-leading 14 homers. He is batting .284 with a .357 on-base percentage as he shows an ability to hit for more than just power. He turned 22 on May 31 and should be in triple A by midseason. Cozens has struck out 40 times in his last 31 games, a number the Phillies would like to see him cut down. . . . Angelo Mora, a 23-year-old utility player, slapped a pair of singles on Thursday and entered Friday batting .282 with a .341 on-base percentage. He can play second base, shortstop, third base, and all three outfield positions. . . . Joely Rodriguez has allowed one earned run in 10 innings since rejoining Reading last month from high-A Clearwater. The righthander was sent down to Clearwater after a shaky start to the season. He has walked two batters and struck out 11 since returning. Rodriguez, 24, is in his first full season as a reliever. The Phillies acquired him from Pittsburgh in December 2014 for Antonio Bastardo.

High-A Clearwater

Thomas Eshelman allowed two runs in seven innings on May 28 as he continued his strong first season since coming over from Houston in the Ken Giles trade. The righthander has walked two or fewer batters in eight of his nine starts. He has struck out 53 batters in 52 1/3 innings and has a 3.61 ERA. Eshelman was drafted in last June's second round and could be inching closer to a promotion. He turns 22 later this month. . . . Tyler Viza rebounded last Friday to allow one run over six innings after allowing five runs in two innings in his previous start. The 21-year-old righthander has a 2.68 ERA in eight starts. The Phillies drafted him out of high school in the 32nd round of the 2013 draft. His performance has been a welcomed surprise. . . . Matt Imhof lasted just two innings on May 29 as his poor outing spoiled his string of solid starts. The lefthander allowed two runs or fewer in six starts before being blasted for five runs in two innings. The Phillies drafted him out of college in the second round of the 2014 draft. . . . Scott Kingery stole his 11th base of the season on Thursday. The second baseman entered Friday with a hit in eight of his last nine games. He is batting .267 this season with a .341 on-base percentage.

Single-A Lakewood

Jan Hernandez entered Friday batting .301 in 27 games since May 1. The 21-year-old third baseman from Puerto Rico has a .363 on-base percentage over that stretch. The Phillies drafted him in 2013's third round, and he spent the last two seasons with short-season Williamsport. His defense still needs seasoning. Hernandez has seven errors this season in 42 games. . . . Josh Tobias cooled down in May after a riveting start to the season. The second baseman batted .255 in May and entered Friday hitless in his last nine at-bats. He batted .347 in April. The Phillies drafted him in last June's 10th round. . . . Luke Leftwich, who was drafted in last June's seventh round, is having a strong first season with Lakewood. The righthander has a 2.83 ERA in nine starts. He has struck out 61 batters and walked 17 in 47 2/3 innings. He allowed two runs in seven innings on May 31 while striking out five and walking one. The 21-year-old played in college at Wofford in South Carolina. He is a candidate for a second-half promotion to Clearwater.
