TOWSON, Md. - Nina Corcoran has been the leader of the Penn women's lacrosse team this year. On Friday, she got to celebrate on a team level and an individual one.

Corcoran had three goals and four assists to lead the Quakers to a 17-7 win over Wagner College in the first round of the NCAA Division I tournament at Johnny Unitas Stadium.

The seventh-seeded Quakers (14-4) will take on Towson in the second round Sunday at noon. The game also will be played at Towson.

Corcoran set the Penn record for points in a season with 83 in the victory. She also set the Ivy League career assists record with 125.

"Honestly, that doesn't really mean anything to me," Corcoran said. "I just wanted us to get the win. Now it's on to Sunday."

Catherine Dickinson and Alex Condon led Penn with four goals each. Wagner (10-9) was led by Kimmy Tumolo's two goals.

The Quakers took a 3-2 lead on a Corcoran goal with 19 minutes, 16 seconds left in the first half and never trailed after that. Led by goals from Iris Williamson (Germantown Friends), Sarah Barcia, and Condon, Penn outscored Wagner, 3-1, at the end of the half to take an 8-5 lead.

The Quakers broke the game open with a 9-2 run in the second half. Penn coach Karin Brower Corbett was happy with her team's effort.

"I thought there were things defensively that we improved on in the second half," she said. "I felt we should have had a bigger lead at the half. We made them extend their defense in the second half and we pressured them in transition. It was a good team effort."
