Temple advances to semis

The Owls (20-16) made it look easy, taking a 35-15 halftime lead, then made it look hard by losing 15 points off the lead in the first five minutes of the second half before regaining control of the game.

Temple travels to West Virginia at 7 p.m. Wednesday for one semifinal. In the other, UCLA and Michigan meet, with the two winners playing at 3 p.m. Saturday for the title.

Feyonda Fitzgerald had 15 points and four steals for the Owls, who had 22 turnovers. Safiya Martin grabbed 15 rebounds. Temple shot 21 of 24 from the free-throw line.

The Blue Raiders (24-10) were led by Olivia Jones' 24 points.

West Virginia 75, Villanova 70 - Emily Leer, an Abington High School graduate, had 29 points, including six three-pointers, but Villanova's season ended in an overtime loss to host West Virginia in Morgantown.

Caroline Coyer had 10 points and six assists but shot 5 for 17 in the game.
