PLAYER OF THE YEAR / ATTACK

Michael Handlan

MOORESTOWN

During a senior season in which his leadership meant as much as his athleticism, Handlan did it all. His even-keeled yet ultracompetitive mentality was key to the Quakers' ability to exceed expectations and win the South Jersey Group 3 championship. And, of course, his ability to score goals didn't hurt, either. Handlan, a University of Delaware recruit, collected 56 goals and 32 assists this season. The Inquirer South Jersey Player of the Year in boys' lacrosse solidified himself as one of the top offensive players of his generation, finishing his high school career with 186 goals.

ATTACK

Dan

O'Keefe

SENECA

O'Keefe, an unselfish player, picked up where he left off after a stellar junior season. He paired 52 goals with 53 assists in leading Seneca to an 18-4 record and an appearance in the South Jersey Group 2 title game. O'Keefe finished his high school career with 292 points.

ATTACK

Andrew

Streilein

LENAPE

Streilein was again one of the area's top offensive players in his senior year. He recorded 62 goals and 46 assists and led Lenape to an appearance in the South Jersey Group 4 final. Streilein moves on to play for Wagner after a high school career that included 162 goals and 106 assists.

MIDFIELDER

Matt

Donnelly

CLEARVIEW

In his junior season, Donnelly, a Hofstra recruit, spearheaded one of the most successful runs that Clearview has had. Despite gaudy offensive numbers, including 74 goals and 34 assists, Donnelly's greatest strength might have been his versatility, as he contributed in each third of the field in leading Clearview to its first Olympic Conference Patriot Division title.

MIDFIELDER

Kyle

Borbi

SHAWNEE

Borbi, a Notre Dame recruit, was the offensive leader for a Renegades team that finished 17-2 and reached the South Jersey Group 3 title game. Borbi was as quick and shifty as any player in the state and paired 48 goals with 23 assists. He finished his Shawnee career with 150 goals and 84 assists.

MIDFIELDER

Joey Diaco

WEST DEPTFORD

Diaco's 70 goals were among the most in South Jersey, and even more impressive considering that West Deptford played one of the area's toughest schedules. The senior will continue his career at Merrimack after scoring 126 goals in a West Deptford uniform.

MIDFIELDER

Will

Fox

ST. AUGUSTINE

In his senior season, Fox solidified himself as one of the best high school faceoff men in the country. Playing the Hermits' nationally ranked schedule, Fox won 72 percent of the faceoffs he took this season. He will continue his career at Fairfield.

DEFENDER

Brendan

Handlan

MOORESTOWN

Handlan was something of an unsung hero throughout his high school career, but his contributions to his team's success were no less important than those of his twin, Michael, this season's Inquirer Player of the Year in South Jersey boys' lacrosse. Brendan Handlan, a Delaware recruit, was a game-changer on defense, and in his senior season, he often extended his impact into the midfield and attacking third.

DEFENDER

Bryce

Young

ST. AUGUSTINE

Young, a senior, was a leader on yet another stellar St. Augustine defense. The team did not allow double-digit goals in a game this year despite a grueling regular-season schedule and a run to the semifinals of the Non-Public A tournament, one of the state's toughest. Young will continue his career at Maryland.

GOALIE

Reese

Tursi

SHAWNEE

Tursi was the heart and soul of a Shawnee defense that allowed more than six goals just five times in 19 games. This senior and University of Tampa recruit made a name for himself throughout his career by playing his best in the biggest games, and that was true again as he led the Renegades to a second straight appearance in the South Jersey Group 3 final.
