Walker takes 6-shot lead at Pebble Beach

PEBBLE BEACH, Calif. - Jimmy Walker had a hot hand in the cold wind on Saturday and built a 6-shot lead in the AT&T Pebble Beach National Pro-Am.

Walker made his first bogey of the tournament, but countered with five birdies in 30-m.p.h. gusts at Monterey Peninsula for a 4-under 67, leaving him on the verge of his third PGA Tour victory this season.

He was at 13-under 202.

Tim Wilkinson had a 69 and Hunter Mahan had a 72, both at Monterey Peninsula. They were at 208.

Jordan Spieth, tied with Walker going into the third round, was 5 over through 15 holes at Pebble Beach - 9 shots out of the lead - when the round was halted by darkness.

The round was delayed by wind for 2 hours, 19 minutes because balls were rolling off some greens.

Officials tried spraying water on the greens to help balls stay on the putting surface. It didn't work.

Champions Tour

BOCA RATON, Fla. - Michael Allen shot a 3-under 69 to take a 1-stroke lead over Scott Dunlap and Chien Soon Lu in the Allianz Championship at Broken Sound.

European Tour

JOHANNESBURG, South Africa - Thomas Aiken carded a 9-under 63 on the East Course at Royal Johannesburg and Kensington, while Justin Walters shot an 8-under 64 to open a 2-shot lead on the field and move into a tie for the lead at 17 under at the Joburg Open.
