People to watch at Penn Relays

Allyson Felix, who won three gold medals at the London Olympics, is at the start of the line of people to watch at the Penn Relays this week.

The foursome of Tianna (Madison) Bartoletta, Felix, Bianca Knight and Carmelita Jeter, who shattered the world record (40.82 seconds) in London in the 4 x 100, return to defend their Penn Relays title in the USA vs. the World.

American 400-meter runner Manteo Mitchell, who finished his London race after breaking his leg is also expected to compete.

Others expected in the USA vs. the World events include: Jamaican sprinter Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce; Grenadian Kirani James, the World and Olympic 400-meter champ; and the Dominican Republic's Felix Sanchez, two-time Olympic 400-meter hurdler champ.

Other to watch include:

Kimberlyn Duncan, LSU 200-meter indoor champ.

Natoya Goule, LSU 800-meter star.

Emily Lipari and Nicky Akande, Villanova juniors on the team that won the DMR last year.

Samuel Ellison, Villanova junior from Upper Dublin High and part of a strong Wildcats distance group.

Olivia Ekpone, Texas A&M sophomore sprinter, who owns two Relays watches from last year.

Andy Bayer, Indiana distance runner, reigning NCAA 1500 outdoor champion.

English Gardner, Oregon junior sprinter, who won the NCAA 100 meters and indoor 60 meters, as well as her teammates Chizoba Okodogbe, Laura Roseler and Phyllis Francis, the 4x400 squad that won the NCAA outdooor title last June.

Anne Kesselring, the Oregon star who anchored two winning relays last year.

Kennedy Kithuka, Texas Tech 5,000 titlist.

Bryce Lamb, Texas Tech triple jump champ.

Ameer Webb, Texas A&M 20-meter champ.

Elijah Greer, Oregon 800-meter titlist.

Casimir Loxsom, a member of Penn State's strong contingent who is expected to run on the distance and sprint medleys, 4x800 and 4x400.

Peter Callahan and Michael Williams, two of Princeton's powerful distance team.

Bill Cosby: No word yet if he will make his annual appearance.

Not coming: Usain Bolt.
