Pronger won't comment on newspaper's mockery

Chris Pronger saw the questionably edited picture - but wouldn't add fuel to the fire.

The Flyers defenseman was featured on a poster in yesterday's Chicago Tribune with his bottom-half subbed out for a figure skater in a skirt and tights. Under the headline "Chrissy Pronger," it read that Pronger "looks like Tarzan, skates like Jane."

You stay classy, Chicago.

Apparently, that's the best the Tribune could do - the same newspaper that featured a column saying the Stanley Cup finals were over after the Blackhawks took a 2-0 lead.

"I don't read what you guys write. Good or bad," Pronger said yesterday when asked about the poster.

He had bigger things to fret over. And it wasn't the nastiest that's ever been written about him. "I really couldn't care less, to be honest with you," Pronger said. "I'm worried about playing the game."

Knowing that the former Stanley Cup champion and Hart and Norris Trophy winner is still one of the league's top performers at age 35, the Tribune added at the bottom: "100% chance we'll change our minds if Hawks sign him."

Pronger is coming off a career-worst minus-5 performance in Game 5. The Blackhawks expect him to be ready.

"We know he's going to come back and be better," Jonathan Toews said. "That's what makes him a good player and why he's had such a successful career. He's not going to dwell on that game. The series isn't over. He knows that."

Hawks coach Joel Quenneville said he had "no comment" on the poster. *
