Usain Bolt will run in Penn Relays

Three-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt has committed to participating in the Penn Relays.

Three-time Olympic gold medalist Usain Bolt will run in the Penn Relays.

Bolt will participate in the 4x100 relay as part of the USA vs. the World event on Saturday, April 24 at Franklin Field.
Bolt, a Jamaican, won gold medals and set world records in the 100, 200 and 4x100 relay at the 2008 games at Beijing.

"We are thrilled that Usain Bolt will be running at the Penn Relays," Penn Relays director Dave Johnson said. "He ran here 4 years in a row as a teenager, and this will be his first time back since he became the sport's biggest star."

Bolt also won the 100 and 200 at the 2009 World Championships in Berlin last August. He became the first man to hold the Olympic and world titles in those events at the same time.

USA Track and Field made the announcement of Bolt's participation yesterday in Indianapolis, calling Bolt "one of the world's most celebrated and recognizable athletes."

The USA vs. the World series is the first event in USA Track and Field's 2010 Outdoor Visa Championship Series and is in its 10th year of competition.
