Appeals court backs ruling on Vick bonuses
A federal appeals court is backing the judge who ruled against the NFL and let quarterback Michael Vick keep more than $16 million in roster bonuses from the Atlanta Falcons.
The 8th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals in Minneapolis yesterday affirmed Judge David Doty's order saying Vick had already earned the bonuses before his dogfighting conviction, so the money wasn't subject to forfeiture.
Vick served 18 months in prison and signed with the Eagles this summer.
Doty has long handled matters arising from the NFL's collective bargaining agreement. After Doty ruled in the Vick bonus case, the NFL accused him of bias and sought to end his oversight of its contract with the players union.
The appeals court says the contract should remain under Doty's oversight.

The Eagles game at Chicago on Nov. 22 will remain an 8:20 p.m. start on NBC.
The network could have chosen another game in the firt week of flex scheduling, but opted to stick with the original matchup.
Sunday's Eagles-Cowboys game was seen by 21.9 million viewers and is the second most viewed Sunday Night Football game of the season, behind the debut of the new Cowboys stadium (24.8 million viewers, the most watched NFL prime-time regular-season game in 12 years).
