Playoff weather

THE PHILLIES' equipment managers better pack some heavy jackets and gloves this weekend.

When the National League Division Series switches to Denver's Coors Field for Game 3 on Saturday night, temperatures are expected to fall into the 30s during the game with possible snow showers, according to Fox 29 meteorologist John Bolaris.

Highs will be in the 40s Saturday, but the temperature will continue to dip as game time approaches. Game time is 9:37 p.m. Eastern.

The temperatures are expected to rise Sunday, when Game 4 is scheduled, if necessary. The potential game time has not been set.

For Bolaris' forecast for tomorrow and Thursday in Philadelphia for Games 1 and 2, check Page 2.

Have a day

The first two games will be afternoon starts, much to the dismay of many fans. But on the field, the Phillies are 28-17 (.622) in day games this season and 65-52 (.555) at night.

TBS sets announcers

TBS has assigned play-by-play announcer Brian Anderson, analyst Joe Simpson and reporter David Aldridge to the Phillies-Rockies series.

Anderson has been the play-by-play voice of the Milwaukee Brewers since 2007. Simpson has spent 24 years with TBS and locally with Peachtree TV in Atlanta covering the Braves, along with 5 years as a Seattle Mariners announcer, after an 11-year playing career. Aldridge has been a longtime member of Turner's NBA broadcast team and also has worked for the Washington Post and the Inquirer.

Ratings on rise

Ratings for Phillies games on Comcast SportsNet this season increased 25 percent over last season the network announced. SportsNet said it was the seventh consecutive season of Phillies' ratings growth.

During the 2009 season, the Phillies had a 7.14 average rating (212,000 households) for game broadcasts compared to a 5.7 last season. "Phillies Postgame Live" averaged a 3.1 rating (92,000 households) a 15 percent increase over the 2008 season.
