TERRELL OWENS, THE BEST selfpromoter in the NFL, is back in the news.

This time he's weighing in on the Michael Vick saga. Vick, of course, is the ex-Falcons quarterback who served a 23-month sentence for his role in a dogfighting ring.

Yesterday, Owens told the Associated Press that Vick should be reinstated in the league without any further disciplinary action.

NFL commissioner Roger Goodell reportedly is considering an additional four-game suspension for Vick. Such a penalty - one quarter of the regular season - might make a team think twice about signing Vick.

"I think he's done the time for what he's done. I don't think it's really fair for him to be suspended four more games," Owens said. "It's almost like kicking a dead horse in the ground . . . The guy's already suffered so much. And to add a four-game suspension on a 2-year prison sentence, that's ridiculous."

Not surprising considering T.O. is an expert on the ridiculous.

An odd story, no bones about it

Rockies reliever Manny Corpas had surgery to remove a bone chip from his right, throwing, elbow Friday.

Usually, that wouldn't be news. But in this case, Corpas asked the surgeon for the small piece of removed bone. On Saturday, he visited the clubhouse and showed it off to his teammates.

Good thing he didn't have a hemorrhoid removed.

Fans go into overdrive

Kenny Wallace's sponsor - the U.S. Border Patrol - won't pay for him go to the Nationwide road race in Montreal on Aug. 30.

So his fans are attempting to foot the bill.

"This caught me off-guard. It stunned me," Wallace told the AP. "It's all the fans' idea. All we did is set it up on kennywallace.com. I said OK after 6 months of trying to make it go away."

Those donating $20 will get their name painted on the car Wallace will drive in the race and receive an autographed photo of the car.

How cool is that?
