What happened: Blake and Ramirez knocked in two runs apiece in a six-run third to knock out Kendrick. The Phillies managed to get the tying runs aboard in the ninth, but Ryan Howard grounded out.

What happened: Trailing 3-2 in the eighth, the Dodgers tied the game off Chad Durbin and then won it in the ninth on an RBI single by Andre Ethier.

What happened: This one really hurt. The Phillies hit three homers off Brad Penny in the first two innings to take a 6-1 lead, but the Dodgers eventually caught up with two in the eighth off Chad Durbin. Nomar Garciaparra homered off Condrey in the ninth.

What happened: The Phils were silenced, held to two hits. Kemp's homer in the sixth was the game-winner. It was the Dodgers' first sweep of a four-game series vs. the Phillies since 1962.
AT PHILADELPHIA (Aug. 22-25)

What happened: Trailing 1-0, Howard's homer gave the Phils the lead in the fourth, and Coste broke it open with his three-run blast off Maddux in the sixth.

Top hitters: Dodgers - Russell Martin (2-run HR); Phillies - Pat Burrell (3 hits, 5 RBI), Ryan Howard (2 RBI)
What happened: Burrell homered with two aboard in the first, doubled in a run in the fifth and singled home a run in the sixth.
