"I'm just looking for our cohesiveness to get on track," Sixers coach Maurice Cheeks said. "We've been changing lineups."
Cheeks said the final score of tonight's game, scheduled for 7 at the Mullins Center on the University of Massachusetts campus, mattered little compared with the opportunity to test his players in different game situations.
Expect the Sixers' starting lineup to be Andre Miller at point guard, Andre Iguodala at shooting guard, Thaddeus Young at small forward, Elton Brand at power forward, and Samuel Dalembert at center.
Not everyone will play, Cheeks said. He added that he wanted to evaluate a few players - Willie Green, Royal Ivey and Kareem Rush - on the wing.
"I want to see how they react to one another in a game situation," Cheeks said.
During yesterday's practice at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Sixers worked their offensive sets, most of which ran through Brand.
Cheeks said he was eager to see Brand play against different competition - namely, Celtics all-star power forward Kevin Garnett.
"Last season, we were playing from the outside-in," said Miller, noting the change in offensive mind-set. "Now we're playing from the inside-out."
Miller said that with Brand on the block, his game, specifically, would have to change.
"Some games, I'm going to have to defer and not be so offensive-minded," he said.
"It will take time," he added, "but it's a long year, and there will be changes throughout."
Notes. Rush, who sprained his left ankle midway through Monday's practice, will be a "game-time decision," Cheeks said. . . . Miller, a native of Los Angeles, said he would attend tomorrow's opening game of the National League Championship Series between the Phillies and the Dodgers. Miller grew up a Dodgers fan, he said, but is "just going to see a good game."
