He's already on the case, folks.
While on his official visit last weekend, Yard was accompanied by wing guard Parrish Grant, who formerly played at Prep Charter but now can be found at Imhotep Charter.
"Different rooms, but we stayed in the same hotel," Yard said. "I've been talking to him pretty much every day for a while now. I'm trying to persuade him. I'm pretty sure he'll commit, too. I do know he likes it."
Yard, a 6-foot, 170-pound senior at Franklin Learning Center, said he began hearing from Siena's coaches shortly after a July AAU appearance in Las Vegas.
"I was getting a lot of calls from them," he said. "And when the head coach [Fran McCaffery, a product of La Salle High] is making a lot of them, you know it's serious. It makes you feel good when you get that kind of [personalized] attention.
"What really impressed me was that he offered me a scholarship even before I went up for the visit. This school has a high midmajor program. Someone like that wants you, it means a lot."
Yard, who lives near Chew and Chelten, in East Germantown, said he intends to major in business or marketing at Siena.
"The best part of my visit was getting to spend time with the staff and the players," he said. "The more I was around them all, the more they felt like family. The more I thought about how this opportunity was right there, I knew I had to take it. I know it's gonna go great." *
